Nowhere near Gears, but i dont think that many people expected it to be in the same league sales wise. No hardware boost a expected as well, overall i think it was a solid/good launch for KZ2 but nothing incredible (saleswise)

 

 

Gears only sold 910k in it's first week, that's only a 150k difference.

I expected the game to sell 750k first week. However, the fact that it could sell 750k just in three days is amazing. I am happy with the sales and I know for sure now that it will have a amazing first week sales. I found out the preorders in Europe alone are 1.1 million!

The real question is, will it have legs? Its the LTD sales which matter more, not so much the first week sales.

@BXN: Didn't Gears sell that many with only a 6M install base?

Pretty good numbers considering the crap job they did advertising the game. In all the time i spent at the mall/gamestop I never once saw a poster or little "coming soon" board featuring kz2. I'm sure they'd have easily reached a million if they put more tv ads up.

Darth you have got to read the article again and see what you did wrong. Prelim data says 750k ALREADY.........ALREADY..........INDEED ALREADY. Either the wording was bad or more probably people on this forum jumped the gun and did not even bother reading the article.

I must be missing something which everyone else here has picked up but to me the article was implying that the game has already sold 750k. I personally think that is too high as I think the game will have great legs but that is my translation of what I read. :O

I said most likely over 750K IN the OP

also its best if we say its at 750K as vg chartz has overtracked the first day for the last two big games (MGS4, GEOW 2)

Your poll does not apply that and most probably that is why people are jumping the gun. Your title does help either, maybe you should have thought this thread through a little bit?

Edit - The success of this game just jogged my memory about the wonderful "why would killzone 2 outsell resistance 2" thread my richarduk, good to see him looking like a total fool.
