They guaranteed that it would work for a minimum of one year, and it did work for one year. I feel that Sony has held up their end of the contract.

You shouldn't expect things that aren't promised to you though.  I understand you're dissapointment, but it's just life.  Sorry. :(

Nintendo tends to just this, actually. It makes good business sense as console companies tend to make a lot more money on games than consoles (and initially Sony's strategy was to lose money on the console). Assuming it costs them no more than $20 of real labour and parts to fix it, they should recoup the cost once the customer buys another two games and then be profitable again on all future games. Otherwise, if the customer doesn't buy another PS3* to replace it, then lost sales > repair cost and Sony loses. It would probably work even better if they charged cost price - few could object to a $20 charge for out-of-warranty.

*I never did understand why people bought 2 or 3 PS2s or X360s after successiev failures. You're giving the company incentive to make faulty products.

Wait... this happened before with your ps3? What did you do after it broke the first time , send it to sony? Does sony extend warenties after repairs?

Warranties have a deadline for a reason. If they were to make an exception for anybody just for 1 single day past the deadline, then they would have to make for EVERYbody. The warranty is what it is, if it's a year it's a year, not a year and 2 weeks, a year and 2 days, whatever. Didn't you stop to think a little about it?

Somehow I believe if M$ had done this people would be ready to revolt.

I personally think a company should have a little leway in them. Why ask for all the negative publicity when you can simply make the repairs and be done with it. I wonder how many people will here this story?

Show me any company that will replace something for free out of warranty and I'll show you a flying pig.
