Forums - Sales - Retailers in my area messed up big time with Killzone 2.

LOL...I was trying to not be cynical...since I'm not sure how it's the RETAILERS fault for SOny not providing them with enough incentive to have more games in stock to meet possible demand.  in these tough economic times, I'm sure most people aren't trying to have tons of product lying around, like they probablyy  had last year for two HUGE ps3 releases.

The try not to stock many new games other than pre-orders because they want to buy the new games back second hand for next to nothing and resell them at a $5 discount of what a new one would cost. If they don't have new copies, it leaves the buyer little choice but to buy the second hand one.

They make more money from the sale of a second hand game than they would a new one.

Damn...you are on a roll...why didn't they get the memo for Gears of War 2!

Used games exploiting business and shipping glitches apart, if they had 33 pre-orders, stocking 50 copies at launch wouldn't have put them at risk of losses.
Shop manager's mistake is the most plausible explication, IMHO.

I didn't have any problems at all other than the fact that I had to find an employee to open up the case and sell me the game, I went to a Meijers pretty early where the only other shoppers were older men and women. There were 5 copies sitting there behind the glass just waiting for somebody to adopt them.

everyone should learn their lesson and preorder

Actually, I just proved that preordering isn't necessary

I just went and stood in a line of 17 people at my Walmart, and the store only had (4), yes (4) copies. Luckly I had a preorder from Gampestop, and they opened for a midnight launch as well. The sad news is that they had 33 preorders for the game, and they only ordered 33 copies. They said that they had to turn down 9 people that had waited in the cold.

I hope that this did not happen all arcoss the US. If I would not have got my copy tonight I would have been pissed enough to say F*^( it, and not get the game for a while. So someone that was not looking at this as a major event may not buy the game now. Hopefully the numbers don't prove that this was the case all across the US.

Wait, wait wait... They opened for a midnight launch to sell an abosolute maximum of... 33 copies? Is that a joke? Especially considering a lot of the pre-orderers would be waiting until later in the day.

It's not retailers fault that playstaton hw & sw sales are so crap. Obviously they don't want to mess up with it so they do not stock in huge lots of copies for whatever "saviour" is coming to PS3. And before you calling them idiots, try to think for the moment, these guys probably have been running their business for more years than one spent in school ;)

most stores would get another shipment as the first shipmenst have already sold out. most uk online retailers pre orders were stopped and sold out but since this morning they are all back in stock.
