... According to market observers, Nintendo Wii was acquired by over 10.5 million of gamers worldwide in less than a year .....
I wonder where they got those infos. :o)

seems like they took that number and the 4.3 for the PS3 right from here! but there is the odd chance that they did collect all the other information and sum it up like NeoGaf did (if your not familiar, they guessed on the Europe numbers but summed the Japanese and American numbers)

Also, did anyone notice this -> Wii does not feature a hard disk drive, instead, it boasts with 512MB of flash memory, but the console will also have a card reader, which will allow installing more memory.

now this could just be referring to the SD slot, but it could mean something else.

I noticed the same thing about numbers. It's in the media and good for this site. I think so too, that the card reader thing was put in pretty strange way. Although, i believe that they refer to the SD reader.

Ei Kiinasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

hey ben dont forget the biggest and greatest online multiplayer FPS ever created in counterstrike. these guys know what they are talking about and btw i have a friend online that works for digipen and he knows these guys and says they are so wanting to make games for the wii cause of the controller. i think for some rason the ps3 and xboxz360 hl 2 versions are just ports anyways. i wonder if they do make a game for wii it wont be a port but a new IP FPS game unique to wii only.

Valve's experience with taking advantage of the hardware could come in handy in making something special on the Wii. I am looking forward to what they do with the Wii-mote.

With that said I am pretty much in complete agreement with him on the strengths and weaknesses of the Wii. Hopefully Valve will have something good to add to the Wii library and up the bar on control standards like MP3 is doing.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Counterstrike a mod create by fans of HL that became so popular that Valve bought the rights to it?

Originally yes but there have been iirc three versions developed and released by valve that have been just as popular if not more so than the original. Its actually a similar situation to the Team Fortress 2 situation.

If you think about it however, with two very popular games (ie Team Fortress & Counter-Strike) coming about through mods for another popular game I think you have to give a lot of credit to Valve for the way they created the original game such that these guys were capable of putting together their ideas into something enjoyable. I won't say valve gets credit for the ingenuity or novelty of the games but I think their existence as great games in their own right, still owes some credit to the engine they are based on.

Edit: PS - I could be wrong on this one but didn't these modders end up getting jobs with valve anyways?
