Forums - General - It begs the question, who here is good at English

Yes, the title was deliberate. It was ironic...

The phrase 'begs the question' is incorrectly used very frequently on this site, and I wish to see an end to this.

Begging the question refers to a logical fallacy in which you assume what you are trying to prove.

The use of begs the question to mean 'raises the question' as seen in the thread title is incorrect

i will not acquiesce...

This begs the question, why do people insist on calling Wii Fit 'The Wii Fit'. Seriously, it's not called 'The Wii Fit', in the same way that Super Mario Galaxy is not called 'The Super Mario Galaxy', or Halo 3 'The Halo 3'. This really irks me.

Wait. Is this actually grammatically incorrect or just an incorrect use of an idiom?

English is tough, give people a break.

learn french c'est plus simple

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

SciFiBoy must be destroyed.

And yeah, The Wii Fit is a bit odd. Maybe it's to differentiate from all the fake Wii Fit's, ie Wu Fit.

Yeah, I suppose it has little to do with grammar really

It's much more fun to not give people a break :P And I'm sure no-one is going to be too offended by this thread

I tried learning French but never got past the 'rote learning of words' stage and onto the interesting bits such as grammar, and being able to order food in a French Restaurant.

English is easy and fun and yeah I remember u correcting the same mistake for perpride months ago ,
Arabic is hard , I'm arabi and I find it hard :S

arabi

Isn't Arabi plural of Arabic? Is there a plural for Arabic?

If not, then Arabi shouldn't be use as it implies plurality and confuses the hell out of people.

It's WiiFit not Wii Fit.

I cringed yesterday, when a newsarticle repeatedly stated that more and more kids where brought into fysiotherapy for "playing with the wii game" or: "The game wii".
