Forums - Sales - Something weird with HotD: Overkill sales

First week sales in Others were over 20k according to VGChartz. The sales were only for the Uk, as it was released in the rest of Others a week later. Now in its second week (first week for the rest of Others), it sold another 20k, and the 1st week already(?) got a downward adjustment of 5k (now 15k).

Something is not right.

Overkill sold 30% more in the UK in its second week, according to Chart-Track. That means it sold over 20k in the UK alone in its second week. What about the rest of Others? Generally, UK is less than 1/3 of the Others market, so it should see about 60k for its second week. To top it off, Overkill has charted on no.6 in Australia last week, so it even sold well.

I think HotD: Overkill sales are already past 80k in Others, however, VGChartz has it now at 36k. It is severely undertacked already.

Overkill did 10k last week in the UK, 13k this week...

What he said...

pwned by The Boss on first reply :P

So where else was it released besides UK?

Good game but Im glad I rented the game. Its one of those games you have to look hard to find a challenge since you get unlimited continues... Resident Evil Umbrella chronicles was much more challenging. I'm thinking it may lose on some sales since there will be lots of used copies on the market after a few weeks.

Still, grindhouse presentation gets thumbs up.

Like I said, the game wasn't released outside of the UK last week. And if it really sold 10k, it's undertracked, as Chart-Track had it higher probably. Also, 7k for the rest of Others in its first week is much, much too low, I'm sure.

Can you tell me why the game got a downwards adjustment so soon for its first week?

So the game sold just 7k in all of Europe and in Australia where it charted? Have u lost it boss?

The way I see it, using Chart-Track and VGChartz as source, and ofcourse some common sense, Overkill sold just under 15 first week in the UK (that's without Ireland), so it sold over 15k first week in Others (maybe 16k-17k).

Second week it sold 30% more in the UK, so it should sell about 22k in UK + Ireland second week. Seeing as Others is more than twice as big as UK + Ireland regarding game sales, first week should see over 30k in the rest of Others minimum.

I respect Brett and this site, and I love the sales trackings. However, I have to say, the Overkill numbers are wrong and I'm 99% certain. 55k-60k for the second week in Others sounds about right, 20k is just too low.

In total, sales for the first two weeks should be over 70k, and not 36k. In other words, I can be wrong, but the discrepancy is too big in my opinion (about 100%).

indeed that is what is confusing me, why the adjustment after just one week?
