Gay and Lesbian sexuality is pretty much the same thing. Only major difference is gender involved. Pretty much calling lesbianism wrong also spits in the face of the male population that is happy being gay. If you look at the definition of homosexuality it covered couples of a same sex and doesnt single out male or females as both lesbian and gay tendancies are both filed under homosexuality.

So in a nut shell, gay = lesbian = homosexuality.

Anyways, what Microsoft is doing period is highly discriminatory. Most services provide a spot for preference allowing for straight, gay, lesbian, bi, bi-curious. An XBL profile is nothing different then a myspace, facebook, PSN, facethejury, etc profile making it so that if a person decides to post their preference, even if there is no field provided and they just do it in an "about me" section, it is perfectly a-ok to do so. If one is banned for publicly stating their preference there are some massive legal issues when you look at discrimination laws in the USA and many countries around the world. Microsoft is putting themselves in hole that they wont get out of if someone actually pushes this subject.

I actually did it and even on the top 10 you get lesbianlife.com (questions about lesbian lifestyle on general) lesbianation.com (entertainment, travel destinations etc.) and lesbian.org (resources, general information), besides the wikipedia link.

Actually SSJ, you are completely wrong on another subject. Xbox Live is nothing like those other services you mentioned. Xbox Live is a gaming network whose main function is playing games with other people. Those other services' main function is for social networking. Plus, those other services have age restrictions and generally do not allow kids to see adult profiles or adults to see kid profiles. Xbox Live has no distinction between the two. Also, any word that refers to something of a sexual nature is aganst the TOS period. If you don't like it, too bad. MS can ban whoever they want from their service.  The simple fact is that most people think of a word like lesbian in a sexual sense. Just do a google search for lesbian and you will see that you won't find any lesbian non-sexual sites in the top million hits.
