Forums - Gaming - Could Small items with large capacity like Memory sticks (flash drives)

be used to store and retail the games

as many flash drives can hold 8gb + and are very very cheap

I made a thread about this with psp2. I said the PSP should have 2 memory stick slots. 1 Slot holds a standard data (game saves, musics etc.) and the other one you buy memory stick specific games. It's faster then UMD, takes less battery, and loads faster. It's price is also rapidly decreasing.

CURRENTLY PLAYING:  Warframe, Witcher 2

i wouldn't be surprised if companies were looking at this as an option (among other things)

You should congratulate me. I destroyed the vile red falcon and saved the universe. I consider myself a hero.

Isn't this what Nintendo does now? Just that they use their own format with the DS...

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

I've always supported an entirely dlc based market, with the downloads being stored on flash memory for easy transportation (between friends' houses, pour example).

Yeah, it's called a cartridge.

My friends call me Hadoken because I'm down-right fierce

Yes, Nintendo already does that with the DS. The tech they use is very similar to SD, so in theory, the DS is capable of as much as 32GB storage.

Yes! Sadly it would make piracy even easier so it probably won't happen.

Doesn't have to have the same shape connector as SD/USB.... although that just makes it more expensive having to custom build cartridges (don't sony do this with their sticks anyway.

Nintendo does that Right?? The DS cartridges are based of SD card tech. I think... I could see that happening. But I don't expect it next gen... Maybe for the handhelds but not the consoles.

I'm sure nintendo will use an improved version of their current tech.

SONY could either get better UMD drives and bigger storage UMD's... or they could try some solid state stuff like Nintendo. I just hope they don't bring in a completely new format like they did with UMD....
