  • They care more about how the game looks than anything else -- Unless I'm mistaken (and I could be) just about everything told to us has been about eye candy or future spinoffs.  I don't play Final Fantasy games for eye candy, I play them for interesting characters and a good story.
  • The last few games have been bad, why would this one be good?  They could always pull a FFIX on us but you can't really expect anomalies.

 

There hasn't been one delay actually. SE never announced a release date, so how could it be delayed?

Just because they are making the game have nice graphics doesn't mean they are neglecting the gameplay, story and characters. You know, maybe thats why it is taking such a long time to develop, because they are spending a long time on the graphics and the other aspects. Just a thought.

Just because FF is now mainstream doesn't mean you have to hate on it and be an elitist because you were there before FFVII. Congratulations on being old enough to play the first six when they came out, you must know better than anyone who enjoyed VII-XII.

Cloud, Squall, Tidus, and Vaan are fundamentally different. I won't speak as to Lightning since I haven't seen her in-game yet, but if she's meant to appeal in the same way as Cloud in terms of marketing then that still means jack squat in terms of how she will actually be characterized.

I mean, how can you compare Cloud and Squall for more than the first ten minutes that you see each of them? Vaan and Tidus is even worse.

Meh, as I said, that whole piece spawned of me being sarcastic and joking.  They started with the same basic Cloud character look/design and that's what matter since they're all made of carboard anyways. 

Keanu Reeves has more character than all of those characters combined (and not joking there )

I played the first VI, and then VII, and loved VII.  Still love I-VI.

 

Wanna know what would rule?  A remake of the original FF with the FFXIII's battle system, revamped a little, and still have it be 4 characters and choose between the 6 original jobs.  Would be pretty sweet to see how that would end up lol

Meh, so I was wrong about delays.  I thought I heard somewhere this was supposed to be a launch or near launch title but admit I could be wrong about that one.  I had thought this was being touted as a 2007 game and now a 2010 game but could be wrong.

And I'm not trying to be an elitist, I simply like my RPG's more about story and character development rather than pretty pictures.   Would you call me an elitist jerk for liking classic literature over R.L. Stine?

Agreed. The only downside is that it's so damn hard in parts that it makes the Playstation and PS2 era RPGs look like Sesame Street games. It is very heavily strategic, though, about as much as FFXII is.

I love FFIV.  My 2nd fav FF.  I'm so pissed i lost my DS before I could beat the game >.<

Also, you say that FF XIII is all about pretty pictures now, but I think that Final Fantasy has always been the game to push whatever hardware it was on.
