I hardly think that Link is applicable for being among the top 3 video game characters.

He's essentially little more than an avatar in character personality and depth. Furthermore, there are many different Links in the Zelda series. We can't combine every Link and simply grade him on that any more than we can combine Solid Snake and Big Boss.
