What others beat'em up have been important before SF4?

Tekken Tag Tournament did 300k - 600k LTD on PS2. Smackdown is probably the biggest one (eight different games at between 300k and 600k on either PSX or PS2 in UK), but I think they excluded this when they said "traditional".

there hasn't been a huge fighting game in quite some time.  I don't think games can make the impact like mortal kombat or tekken 3 anymore.

Very few franchises have that many platinum sellers in the UK.
