Dpad on PS3 won over 360 by the looks of things. I'd get it on PS3 if I didn't have a custom controller for my 360...

Maybe for people with both consoles (which the majority don't have), but for those with an X360 or neither console it's cheaper to eaither buy a Stick for their X360 or an X360 with a stick and play it how it's supposed to be played rather than buy a PS3 to play it.

Also, I never understand when people complain about the X360 D-Pad when it comes to fighters, the button layout on both pads is a far bigger problem than any D-Pad complaints. Fortunately it's a simple problem to fix ... buy a stick.

Yeah, now that I think about it you are right.

I mean...most of my friends that have both bought it for the 360 and got a custom controller. If you can afford a ps3 and 360, you can afford a 40 dollar pad or an 80 dollar stick...

So anyone have any other ideas why this did better on PS3?

None. "More fighting fans" is dropped because of SC4 sales...

Like I said fighters generally do better on PS3 in Europe , Same as racers and platformers. Shooters do better on 360 though

Actually scratch that...I wouldn't get it at all. All my freinds are on the 360.

Also reasons like 360 piracy, copies available form capcom could have something to do with this...

ps. did u get the genesis collection? i think its ace apart from thunder blade:(

What's wrong with Thunder Blade, the emulation or the actual game? If you meant the actual game, then that's pretty understanable, it's average at best. Original Master System version is far better, which is also true for Alex Kidd (Miracle World, and to a lesser extent Shinobi World). Shame they didn't include more Master System unlockables, Phantasy Star was a necessity, but  including Golden Axe Warrior as the only other Master System game was a big let down. I was hoping for more. Anyway, will pick up both SFIV and SMD Collection this week.

You could be right.

Looking at Soul Cal 4...it sold better first few weeks on the PS3 but oddly it was outsold lifetime by 360 in Europe.

I guess better d-pad, helped it out to edge out xbox 360 version.

Well, I suggested in the PAL Charts thread that with two old school franchises selling better on PS3 than X360 it might suggest an older demographic for PS3. I'm certainly not 100% confident of that, just a suggestion.

Gotta hand it to Capcom here

Congrats

I think that the reasons given - that the PS3 attracts a bigger fighter base, may be correct.

However, like many games before this one, 1 week of data will not tell the story. There have been quite a few games to do better on one system the first week, only to see much better legs later on. I think that, given the bigger 360 install base, we'll see SFIV have better drops on the 360. Call it a hunch ;)

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
