Current situation on the market shows only one thing - no matter how good is your product if you set price too high sale will be sluggish. PS3 is well designed and offer much more than both Wii and X360. Microsoft and Nintendo would be out right now after $599 start while Sony sold more than 4 million consoles. Yes, without software. It's impressive. Sony sell almost 400k units a month right now. Sale will be twice as big after another price drop (to $399 or $349) and this is just beginning. Year two of at least seven (I believe this will be the longest generation because of huge costs both for Microsoft and Sony). Five years. For most of this time PS3 will be cheaper than mere $299. You've seen impressive boost after $599 - $499 price drop and it's nowhere close to sales after another one. Don't celebrate victory dear N supporters. Few battles you won don't guarantee an ultimate victory. This is war. |
Thats the issue isn't it? What exactly is the PS3 well designed for? According to a lot of game developers, it must be a media hub, because its certainly not games.
It could also just be a trojan horse for Sony's Blu Ray, which so far has shown no signs of being an asset to the console. Its just making gamers finance the introduction of a video format to the market, finance that should be made by the industry
