Forums - Nintendo - Bruce is mellowing. A positive article on the Wii.

the biggest mistake nintendo could make right now

IS TO RELEASE WII-2/HD/WHATEVER THIS YEAR!!!

nintendo is too smart to make this big of a blunder- they are JUST getting solid 3rd party support(good core quality games) for the system now and you expect them to say, oh wii had a good run, here is wii-HD.... not gonna happen

traditionally the system sells the best in its 3rd year, the wii is in it's...third year

the general range from one system to the next gaming system is 5-6years

nintendo will NOT introduce the next home console until atleast 2011-12.

Around the Network

He says "I have put the case on here in the past that the Wii could be a bubble that will inevitably burst. So I thought it only fair to give voice to the opposite arguments."

So I don't think he is saying this as what he epects. He is just presenting the counter arguments to his actual view, which is that the Wii bubble will burst soon.

Wow. Maybe the fact that the constant Wii sales was making him look ever more ridiculous has brought about this new 'enlightenment'.

But he's right on one thing - Wii sales are being prompt up by only a very small handful of games - Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Mario Kart and to a much lesser extent - SMG, SSBB, LoZ:TP and Guitar Hero which just isn't healthy.

DS has a lot of evergreens too that propel sales but it also has a tremendous catalogue of games for almost any taste. Wii still needs that.

Now if Bruce writes an article saying the fanboys are right then we know hell really is frozen over.

How could anyone think there's even a possibility of Nintendo "pulling the plug" on the Wii this year? That goes against any sort of business logic

It's a way to get Wii fans to listen to him and he still get a troll remark in there :P

Good point =) Wii fans don't listen to him tho. He's strictly a "linked reference" for Wii-bashers ;)

Yeah, that was the first thing I noticed.  He is making his own counter-argument,  one that is going against his own claim that  the Wii is a fad. Funny how the counter-argument seems to follow business logic...
