*cough* pincess peach *cough*
Anlance from Dragon Quest Swords really pisses me off. I never took him as a support character cause he's so damn annoying.

I just thought of the worst one, the little kid in FF12. He was the brother or sister of the one guys i think, and he would join your party sometimes. I still don't know what sex it was...

Very true, but Halo is considered the most popular, and I often hear Master Chief's name thrown around in "Favorite Character" discussions, which I think is absolutely ridiculous.
But with that said, characters from both Gears, Killzone, and Resistance fall under the same category.

I beg to differ:
The single greatest taunt ever.
One of these: Navi, Tingle, Big the Cat, that chocolate addict from Sonic Unleashed, Silver the Hedgehog (ANOTHER slow character in a Sonic game? COME ON)

I like Marcus Fenix kind of...But honestly, I think they do that so you feel more involved with the story. You're seeing the world through the characters eyes so you're supposed to feel like the person. |
Master Chief and Marcus Fenix have characterization in spades for action games, especially First Person Shooters.
The only noteworth hero from modern FPSes who would fit under this particular trope is the apotheosis of all FPS heroes: Gordon Freeman.
And I will not talk bad about Gordon Freeman, sirs.

How could you say Estelle's development was good? There wasn't any. Most of Vesperia's cast were under developed in general, though, not just Estelle. Her and Rita just happened to be the least developed out of the main characters. There seriously nothing to her. She's the perfect, flawless princess.

Hm, interesting perspective.
I would think if they were going down that route, a player choice of dialogue would work much better.
I am a huge fan of story and characterization, so maybe I just get particularly annoyed.
But still, the deeper the character the better, and desgining a character study from the first-person could lead to intriguing situations and mechanics.
