The 9th Circuit Court has affirmed that the California game law is not going to fly -- so, state tax payers better prepare to write the Entertainment Software Association another check. This latest appeal was pushed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger after a lower court had seemingly killed the law by placing a permanent injunction on it.

ESA president Michael Gallagher believes this is a "win" for California's citizens, stating this is a "clear signal" that this type of "reckless" legislation is an "exercise in wasting taxpayer money, government time, and state resources." GamePolitics reports that Leland Yee (D) is pushing for California to appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court. Wonder how much money the ESA would get back from fighting that?

A bit more information about the possible law would've been handy for those people who are not exactly American....

It was a law restricting the sale of violent video games to minors.

The way that the mention on the game already means that it can't be sold to people younger than the given age? Or a new specific system deciding on the violence-aspect of said games, despite possible existing age limitation on the cover?

Basically the one that says that M rated games cant be sold to people under 17.

I don't think it has a legal standing, it's a recommended age. Just like with films though a lot of shops comply with it and make it their rule. But it's not a law like e.g. selling alcohol/cigarettes to underaged.
