Forums - Sony - A Gamer's Hands On Review Of Lair - "Best Review Yet?

I think the fact that people are trying to pull in player reviews to justify Lair's score is a little bit sad. If you like it, fine. I am sure there are a lot of people who enjoyed Red Steel, myself included.

Lets apply the same logic to Red Steel.

Red Steel: A Gamer's Hands-on Review:

Eric J. gave it a 9:
Game is under-rated, once you get use to the controls its so fun and engaging. I love those massive firefights with bullets smashing glass, boxes, cars and more! Its a whole heap of fun, and it feels like your playing in an action movie, hope they make a sequel... people that dont like the controls really need to spend a bit of time with it, my system is fine, using the control scheme is second nature for me now in this game, very very enjoyable!

Chaz S. gave it a 9:
I don't understand why some people don't like it, ok the sword fighting lets it down, but frankly this is only because the rest of the game is so good. Red Steel is entertaining game that is in my opinon the best shooting game on the Wii, and it will take a seriously good game with an even better concept to take this away from it, in fact I'm not expecting this to happen unless a sequal is released.

"Underappreciated" 9.0
Redsteel for the wii is definietly one of the most underated games. Redsteel has a very fun and long story mode but it is very, very hard. The story mode is about stoping japanese communists .In redsteel u can do multiplayer mode for up to 4 people. You get to pick a character, a bonus, and a selection between 4 different boards. Redsteel for the wii is one of (if not) the best multiplayer game for this system. This game uses the wii mote and nunchuck for an intense gameplay. This game will be fun, with, or without friends. I highly recommend this game to all wii owners..

What I am trying to say is that, no matter how badly a game is scored, there always seem to be people who enjoy it.

While many fanboys would argue that all Wii games are crap because of the scores they recieve, they fail to realize that there are people out there who enjoy the game.

What has been happening with Wii games is now occuring with PS3 games. They are being reviewed badly/being given mixed reviews. Does that mean that people still won't get the game, because they believe they will enjoy it, despite the low reviews? Absolutely not.

Now, PS3 fanboys out there, how does it feel to be on the other side?

I would go one step beyond that ...

Videogames have come a long way from the Playstation days where everything below an 8.0 was an unplayable mess (and you'd really only enjoy games that got 9's or better). Even below average games today have some enjoyment factor and if you can look past their flaws may become your personal favourite game; the unfortunate thing is that the history behind game reviews means that few games which get low review scores actually end up getting bought on any sort of level because most gamers (casual or core) end up checking out reviews prior to buying a new game because $50 is a lot of money to waste.

It's pretty sad that you think anyone who gives a PS title a bad review is a fanboy.

@HappySqurriel

And that is why renting games is great now a days. HS for example. It is being critisized for its length. Thus, this game may fall in the rent category. Don't wan't to pay full price? Rent it.

If you actually read reviews, instead of looking at scores, you can better decide whether a game is worth a purchase, a rent, or a pass. I would say that games between 5-7 are worth a rent, assuming you are interested in game concept/parts of a review.

I will make up my own mind, after raving reviews for Gears of War I was a dissapointed that the reviewers weren't able to point towards this game's many flaws and the fact that it's certainly not appealing to everyone (My gf hates it and I myself as a big shooter fan for one totally disliked the bad acting and storytelling)

Another cheap PSN game called Super Ruba-Dub got dragged throught he dirt by various reviewers, but actually I had a lot of fun with my girlfriend collecting all those gold medals. The most heavily criticized point brought forward by the reviewers was that the motion sensing would be inaccurate, having earned my gold ducky IMO they were just incompetent. Yes a shaky hand can trigger the duck to jump, but why doesn't it happen to me if it's really a sixaxis/game related flaw?

Lair so far seems like a to be welcomed addition to the PS3's game gerne diversity. The XBox 360 after a year headstart does not have any game quite like it.

If you mean an average/bad game that involves flying dragons and awful ground combat, then you've never heard of Eragon.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Seriously I'm getting tired of "good score=false score" perception of reviews on this forum.
