Forums - Nintendo - Dead Rising Wii flops in Japan, no reviews yet. Does Capcom know it's crap?

The 360 version sold better overseas than in Japan. They don't take well to sandbox games there. And Capcom didn't expect it to sell a lot, or else they would have shipped more.

Plus this is a WII GAME. Why do you people ALWAYS FORGET you can't use opening sales?

Now the game could still sell poorly (as Okami unfortunately did), but claiming it dead on the first day?

I don't care if you hate it. That's outright ignorance of a pattern that has shown up again and again.

Where did I say the game is dead?

Well based on this comic, I wonder if it is going to sell.

Why do we want this to fail? Do we hate Capcom for the lack of Wii support, or is it something else? I just want to be sure.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

@NJ5, don't forget the god awful graphics.

I can not speak for all, but for me... because I don't want this sort of development to be encouraged by the market. If the game is as bad as it looks, I want it to flop into oblivion so that it can stand as a lesson to Capcom and others.

The title. Or did you pay attention to what you typed? You wrote that a Wii game flopped, even in one region, on the first day. That is not a valid claim, because Wii sales patters do not work that way.

The system has had some mediocre sellers, but you couldn't properly declare that until at least three or four months.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Who can say... Capcom's Wii strategy seems to largely be to overpromise and underdeliver... then pretend they didn't underdeliver and complain their games haven't sold.

OK. Maybe I should have written "looks like it flopped in Japan". I mean a 20k shipment and 6k first day sales look very bad when the 360 game sold 21k in its first week.

Could the game have legs? Yeah but I wouldn't bet on it all things considered.

HATING OPHELIA- Coming soon from Markosia Comics!

Quick question.. how well did the 360 version sell there? I can't really call it a flop knowing the Japanese demographic.

Pixel Art can be fun.
