Consider the last 2 Star Oceans sold 374k and 396k for the first week, this is pretty bad for the franchise. Square Enix is really screwing up by not releasing this and other games on the Wii (or even the PS3). If this were on the Wii, it would have sold in the 350k+ range.

This will not get close to the sales of WKC.

What are you basing this off of? Tales is a big franchise in Japan, and it only sold approx. 150k first week.

And for your PS3 point, if I were Square, I would rathrer have a cheque from Microsoft and 215k LTD in Japan then no cheque from Sony and 280k LTD.

SO3 did 550k lifetime on the freaking ps2 and some people are acting like it's dragon quest or final fantasy . SO4 would have sold 100k more on the ps3 at most , lifetime . I mean WKC has sold what 300k ?? As for the " it's a new IP" excuse , WKC is a big budget rpg and where is it written that a new IP can't sell more than an established second rate franchise (like SO is )?? If that was the case gears wouldn't have raped every ps3 exclusive , in terms of sales , MGS4 included .

Well, I don't know. Tales Wii only sold overall 70k more than Tales 360. There's a better market for a Tales game in the wii than in the 360, but not by that much...

Frankly, the only way I see jrpgs moving forward is making them for the wii and releasing them with the same art assets on the ps3/360 just upgrading the render resolution.

@Euphoria: nevermind, I didn't make myself much clear neither.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

SO4 is using the unreal engine, that works for PS3 and no doubt SO4 will come to the PS3 but as a 6/12 month old port. Crystal Tools only came to be about 1-2 years ago, before it was the White engine which was much more powerful then the engine SE have now for FFXIII as it was made just for the PS3.

Versus is using a "modified" version of Crystal Tools according to Dengeki some time ago ala that is the white engine. Versus will be much much more difficult to go to the 360 as that truly is being built ground up for the PS3. SO4 will be a piece of cake though as should FFXIII.

The MMORPG is using Crystal Tools as is FFXIII, looking at the size of SE another FF game could be in the making. SO4 did not use the Crystal Tools engine because SE do not outsource there engines to tri-ACE or any other of the "lesser" teams.

Your wrong about SO4 using UE. I'm suprised you didn't know that it uses the Infinite Undiscovery engine, which is not a PS3 engine currently.

Here's the exact quote from IGN:

[This question was asked over 100 times] In the past the Star Ocean series has been known to be a Sony systems (PlayStation(s)) game only. With the fairly recent announcement of Final Fantasy XIII coming to the Xbox 360, do we have any chance of seeing Star Ocean 4 made for the PlayStation 3?

Star Ocean Dev Team:
There are currently no plans for a PlayStation 3 version.

What game engine is tri-Ace using for SO4, is it the Unreal 3.5 engine or an original engine created for the game??

Star Ocean Dev Team:
The engine being used for Star Ocean: The Last Hope is an original engine developed by tri-Ace. The same engine was used for Infinite Undiscovery as well.

Also, how is FFvsXIII being 'truly' build from the ground up for the PS3, and XIII was not?

Did not know that, must have been mistaken for TLR.

FFXIII was being built from ground up for PS3 however cut backs obviously had to be made for a multi-plat game. There are areas where PS3 is stronger and areas 360 is stronger so a balance has to be met. This is not the case with Versus where the KH team only need to worry about the PS3, that is why it is using a more powerful engine than the FFXIII team.

Actually you're wrong. FFXIII was built on the PC based Crystal Tools engine, which is made to work on multiple platforms and later even was remade to make it work on Wii. Versus uses the same engine, so could very easily be ported to the 360. Not saying they will here.

Bullshit, I think the developer who was interviewed knows more about his game and the engine he is using than you do, if you do not know the facts do not bother making some rubbish. Also of course FFXIII is using a PC based as is every other game, what do you think PS3 exclusives are made in a tumble dryer?

Internet is so full of misunderstandings.

Oh well, what are you going to do right?

RPG -

Then cite some sources that say that the engine FFXIII is, and was being built on an engine that was designed for the Playstation 3 exclusively. So far, you've argued that IU was a UE game which was totally wrong, I'm wondering what else you've made up.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Omg...Kids with guns on internet.

Good first day.

I can't wait to play.

You do know that TOS was not a main tales game.  We'll see when the next one comes out on the Wii.  If this were on the PS3, it would have outsold WKC, probably getting close to 500k.  As a game developer, I'd rather have 2x as many people playing my games and getting into the franchise than taking cash from M$.  It's how you build a franchise into a cash cow.  SE will have sacrificed alot of future profits because there will be less fans of the franchise this generation.

Some people confuse first day with first week. And first week for SO4 will actually be 3 days all in all.

4 - like 99% of games released in Japan.

no 3, thursday, friday and saturday. Aren´t shop closed on sunday?

First week for WKC is actually three days also.
