Forums - Gaming - GC *Spore* to be on 2(!!!) consoles. Rumor has it that...

I think the Wii could pull it off, though it would likely be a multidisc game (I would buy it, though)

PS3: 5.51m/51w, avg 108,039/w (up 239)
360: 12.93m/102w, avg 126,764/w (up 625), leads PS3 by 7.42m (up 70k), avg lead 18,725/w (up 386)
Wii: 13.52m/51w, avg 265,098/w (dn 1,102), leads PS3 by 8.01m (up 90k), avg lead 157,059/w (dn 1,341)

If 360 sales stabilize, PS3 sales increases needed to pass 360 by...
01/08: (008w) +875.8%, 04/08: (021w) +344.4%, 07/08: (034w) +219.3%, 10/08: (047w) +163.5%

If PS2 sales freeze, Wii sales increases needed to pass PS2 (as of Mar07, 108.4m) by...
2008: (008w) +4373.8%, 2009: (060w) +0496.5%, 2010: (112w) +0219.6%, 2011: (165w) +0116.9%

I think the first version will be the Wii version. Because the user base of the Wii match the target audience of the Wii better that the user base of the 360. If they come simultaneously this could be a multi platform game that is better selling on the Wii than the 360 (WW). The graphic simply does not matter, the game play can take advantage of the Wiimote (Madden is quite the opposite in those points) and a better fitting user base.

Highly unlikley! The intresting thing on the game is, that models and such things take only some kb, and can be shared easily without broadband connection.

The reason most games have been 360/ps3 is because until recently its been assumed that the PS3 would dominate the industry because of its brand.  Now people realize that price does matter.  360 sales are decent since the price drop and the 360 will have the highest U.S. console sales for quite a while.  Wii is really starting to take off as its the best selling console and worldwide leader.  We'll see a lot more 360/wii games as people realize that the cost of porting a HD game to the ps3 costs as much as completely rewriting the game for the wii console.  And sales of wii are > ps3 as long as its not a sports game (madden).

I hate ports, the ps3 will never go anywhere with ports.

I don't think I like this logic very much. What we seem to know is:

1) Spore will be on two consoles.
2) One of these is the Xbox360.

I'm going to point out that 95 percent of the time thus far, when the Xbox360 has a game and that game is ported to another console, that console is the PS3.

This is true and I think the reason is that games made for the xbox360 are generally too graphics intensive for the Wii but not for the PS3.

Given though that Spore is coming out of the DS which is obviously a fraction of the xbox360's power, I think the Wii is actually a good candidate.

It actually surprises me that it isn't coming out on all 3 given how big the game is.

I actually disagree that a 360 game means the second is most likely to be on the PS3. 360 games are rarely (if ever) ported to the PS3. That port is always the other way around. 360 games are very difficult to port to the PS3 due to the differences between Cell and the 360's processors.

I could easily see Maxis deciding it's more economically sensible to make a build from the ground up on the Wii, rather than spend just as much time and even more money to try and port from the 360 to the PS3.

Also, are we sure they weren't including the DS version when they said this?

Burnout pradise is a ps3 game being ported to the 360

Haze(looking like it "might be exclusive but it plays like killzone 1)

UT3(, the textures are alot better than gears of war and graphics etc.. so hard to look identicle)

and thats it..

well you have to remember that Console versions of Will Wright's games are usually very different to their PC counterparts. Generally, the PC version is the true sandbox type game, whereas usually on the console they change some things, try to add some storytelling elements and fail miserably.

I wouldn't be surprised to see four completely different versions of Spore, the true sandbox PC version, an Xbox360 version, a Wii version, and a DS version.

Or, there could be three versions, PC, Xbox360/PS3, DS. As with all other Will Wright games, you will want to get the PC version, as it will be the best.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

You know what I would just love Leo-j?  If you would actually read a post before you responded to it.  Just once... please...
