Don't get me wrong, I thought it was a great improvement from the first, but that didn't stop me from cringing whenever Guillo said anything.

Atlus seems to do a great job with localization
So, this seems a lot like WKC. Good gameplay but not a very good story.

WKC's story is merely generic and cliched. Seriously, Level 5 were finally starting to hit their stride in terms of storytelling and they just has to ruin it by making WKC's story unoriginal. SO4's story on the other hand isn't bad but is poorly paced.
I wanted the 45 min cutscene to be nuclear world war III. Or the ending.
Now Playing: The Witcher (PC)
Consoles Owned: NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, Wii, Xbox 360, Game Boy, DS

Come on now. We haven't actually played either yet.

We haven't but that is the general reception of the games' stories so far.

Well, the IGN review says that a lot more effort could have gone into the story. You intrepreted that as poorly paced, but wouldn't poor pacing make the story bad (if not bad, but certainly make not a good story)

No. Poor pacing can make an amazing story less enjoyable, but it can't make the story anything other than "amazing". What I'm trying to say is, if Heart of Darkness was read to you one line a day, you would get really frustrated, and enjoy it less than you would if you read it normally. It doesn't mean the book isn't great, it's just that the form in which it was read to you was not the most effective.
Also, this is only my opinion, but the gameplay for this game looks much, much better than the gameplay of WKC :P
positive review.
western jrpg reviews are always drab anyways. im in the middle of infinite undiscovery and i think its a very good game
