Edit: From the readme.txt: +---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | | | 3. Known issues | | | +---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Although the game should be playable from start to finish there are still some things that need to be worked out. They include: - Finalizing any battle overflows - Other dialogue overflows - A couple menu bugs - Revising/Retranslating some incorrect translations

Okay. Its still more complete than the last time I saw it. They've been saying they're doing 'final checks' for a year now.

But considering I just finished the GBC version, I'm probably just going to download this and play it later. Though I do want to play the game overt again on the SNES version (like I did with DQ I and II).

I beat the game last night and now I'm going to fight the boss in the bonus dungeon.
However it is really strong so has anyone beeat it already ? Can someone suggest me a good strategy ?
I think I need tol catch a King Cure Slime ...

This game is awesome, fantastic and intlligent scenario writing.

Well, before I even went to fight Nimzo, I caught and trained a King Cureslime and a Great Dragon.  But I only trained my Great Dragon to lvl 17.  Turns out...that's all you need to defeat both Nimzo and Estark.  Having ridiculous ATK, resistances to Fire/Ice and being able to equip some really good armor makes it one overpowered monster.  And the King Cureslime with Omniheal and Kazing....yeah.

Just took Hero, My Son and those two into both battles and it was kind of too easy.  The harder part was the final Parchisi/TnT board.

Well my "game breaker" monster is a metal slime. However Estark physical attack can kill him with one stroke ( althought I can use Life Seeds to rise its PV above the critical hit).
A free OmniHeal is absolute fantastic so I think a will catch that King Cure Slime.

Just be prepared for a long haul.  My King Cureslime took me about 3 hours to catch.  Though not as long as the Great Dragon, which took 4-5 hours....

Probably Karma, since I caught a King Slime and Living Armor randomly without trying.

I'm just about to challenge Estark, so I consider the game essentially beaten at this point. All in all I agree with how everyone is claiming this to be the greatest DraQue of all time; save for the awful monster recruitment system. It's utter appaling and needlessly archaic; "a one in 64 chance of a Great Dragon joing you with aboslutly no chance of improving the odds?" **** this! Instead of wasting their time re-tooling everyone's personality why couldn't the change the function of monster munchies to raise the chances of them joining?

Other than this valid complaint I can honestly say that this is the best Dragon Quest that I've played, and will probably remain my favorite, next to II.

Well what are they suppose to do?  Just give you the monster?  I don't find the recruitment system that broken.  The monsters are suppose to be a support unit to the main cast when you don't have access to them.  So its only natural that its hard to find a Great Dragon or King Cureslime or Golem since at the end of the game, you have access to all the human party members.

I never said that they should just jump into your wagon, I just ment their should be a way to increase the chances of a specific monster joining you.

Just took out the secret boss in twenty-two turns, now I'm just trying to max out my gigantes (lv. 6). Any advice?
