Fossil said: A little off-topic here, but was Joker any good? I know it plays different from normal monster catchers and that isn't a problem, but I heard it's very short and isn't up to par with the other DQ games. Was that just trolling or are those valid points? |
I spent 80 hours on it. And it brought many great ideas to the table, including intitiating battles through monsters being visable on the map (think Chrono series) and a very broad skill system. But what I think was the best advancedment was the breeding system, which was made simple for a purpose. What would take you days to complete in other monster games (like Pokemon as an example) looking at hundreds of select monsters for indavidual stats, you could achieve in a system of select chain monster 'fusion' in Joker and do in leterally hours.
It does have its flaws. It has less monsters than previous games, there's hardly any 'story' to the game and the more advanced monsters make all the simple fusion process into a nightmare. But the rest of the game is addicting and well worth it.
