All HD Consoles need is a consumer friendly price to compete. The games are there for the 360 with more on the way, and the games are coming for the PS3.

Larger number of people buying laptops may be hurting PC gaming options. No clue if it is true but I know if I wanted to play Bioshock I would have to buy and XBox or pull out an old desktop and do a large amount of updating. With the cost of a good graphics card it is going to cost about the same amount as a console, it would be a lot more to update my desktop.

You have a good point there...  The only reason I stopped gaming on the PC was because my rig got outdated and I didn't feel like upgrading.  I've always swore I would never own a Laptop, but when my tower died, I said damn I'm buying a laptop that I can use in my living room for half the price of a gaming rig.  And Wi-fi has made desktops obsolete for nearly everything but gaming.

It is hard to know if Bioshock will move a lot of unit on Xbox360

it depends if the PC minimal recquirement for playign the game match with the average PC machine or not

it depends if my PC upgrade, to play Bioshock, cost me a lot of money or not

Time to Work !

a good gaming rig costs ...700 dollars.

Depends on what you consider good.  Some would say a good video card costs that.

And exactly what will $700 USD buy you if you wanted a rig to play Crysis on reccomended settings?

IMO, with the X360 out there, there is no need for PC gaming outside of RTSes, Sims and Strategy gaming. I switched to X360 near entirely because I got sick of always upgrading my rig.

How is the PC Bioshock version better? 2 installs, no true widescreen support, and general backlash against T2 that the PC version didn't have the full support like the X360 version did?

Either way, a 100% increase @ gamestop for the X360 is pretty good. If those numbers were true, that'd mean the X360 is actually selling somewhere in the area of 80,000-90,000 per week in the US and Canada (average of 45,750 per week last month according to NPD.

Man, 90k a week for X360 right now would be ungodly. Expecially with the fact that the game lineup should be strong enough to keep those levels up atleast for awhile. At 90k/wk right now, can you imagine what H3 week will be like? It could be upto 200k or more for H3 week!

Either way, I am shocked that GS's sales for the X360 are up 100%. For a pathetic $50 drop, that's pretty crazy - I wonder what the sales would be like if they dropped it $100?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Of course this is Gamestop and sales did not increase this much at places like Wal-mart, Costco, and Target.

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

will play next: Paper Mario (N64), Golden Axe II (Sega), NiGHTS (Wii)

Really don't expect NPD numbers to double just because GameStop said so. GameStop is a hardcore's gaming shop. At places where more casuals shop the increase probably is less dramatic. Look at Amazon sales, 360 games place high but the hardware is no where to be seen in the top 10, while the Wii and DS bundle are both in the top 5.

Let us not speak of Amazon. It is a deceiving sales website

price cut + good games (madden/bioshock)

it just shows that people want to buy Xbox360 if they can

Wii will not dominate for eternity

am i one of the only people who doesnt see BioShock moving that many consoles due to there being PC version thats actually better in every way?

Yeah I think your the only one. Of course amazon is not the greatest source for sales but even before bioshock was out a week before it was in the top 10 then top 5 and since release has been #1.  The PC version has also been up there but not close to the 360 version.  Also for those that have a 360 if they notice their buddy list at least for mine more than half of my friends have bought it though obviously not a large pool is nice to see it.  With the reviews it has been getting it is the type of game similar to gears to get people to jump and try it.  To be honest I don't think PC matters much as my friends and I have always played our games on consoles and have had computers for internet and school work etc.   I just don't see if you care about the console gaming(if your on this site I don't see why not) etc why the hell would you pick up the pc version when you can't bring it with you to your friends house to play on their console etc.  Well that has been my experience as gamer at least.  By the way nothing wrong with the pc as compared to my friends I have played a few games like max payne before they made it to console and I used to love age of the empires and had been playing city of heroes for 3 years.  I am tech guy so my PC's have been decent enough to allow me to play more games and also I used to play pirate games easy so I had alot more exposure to PC gaming then any of my friends.  It is just alot easier for regular gamers to pick up a console and play or shared games etc.
