Forums - Nintendo - Will the DS top 150 million?

Personally I can't see how it won't. It's basically at 100 million and the DSi is still to be released in Europe/USA. It has basically became the new gameboy...the handheld everybody wants regardless of it's graphical power. There are still huge games to be released for the system as well as sequals to games etc...a Nintendogs 2 for example would be another massive massive hit. I honestly can see the DS easily topping 150 million units sold.

25 million a year times 2

obviously

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Yes!!! Especially with the DSi pushing a lot of consoles.

What's the point of this thread? It's pretty much garunteed..

It's is not guaranted lol. You don't sell 50M consoles like "that". 130M definitly, above maybe, more than 150M: no.

the ds will live longer then 2 years, and it is not likely it will sell less then 20 million each year

Yeah, I'll go on record as saying its garunteed..there is no way it won't reach 150 mil. Not unless Nintendo discontinued it..and they aren't that stupid.

It should reach around 102-103 million shipped by end of march. Assuming that april- september shipments are a highly conservative 12 million, october-december 9 million and january-march at 3 million that comes to about 126/7 million by march 2010. It will easily sell another 20 million with continued software support and marketing so yes 150 million is a real, almost certain possibility. Now if sales are higher than what I have estimated here, or there is some sort of monster game released or price is cut then above 150 million is likely. 160-170 million I would say would be realistic lifetime sales. 200 million is very optimistic but a possibility. How many people thought that at E3 2004 I wonder.

None. The PSP was the star of E3 2004.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba
