Forums - Microsoft - First Impressions of GTA4:Lost and Damned

I am on the fence if I am going to get it or not.  I read some stuff about it and I also read Rockstar changed the bike physics and dumbed the down even more.

I am sorry, but that just might be a deal breaker for me.  That and the 1600 points it costs.

The mission check points and new cops vs bikers sounds good though.

Has anyone got it and what are your impression's?

At first I didn't feel like getting it, but seeing more of it everyday is really tempting me to get it....I enjoyed GTA4 and this looks fun as well...

I'll drop some impressions once I get it...

They made the bike physics better !
It's harder to fell of the bike and it's easier to turn a corner.

What excactly is bad about this ?

My initial impression is a slow moving progress bar.

I got bored of waiting and went online with FIFA.

I left it downloading this morning so hopefully my next impressions will be slighty more inciteful.

Here are my impressions:

I downloaded this yesterday morning out of the blue. I had totally forgot that it was coming out. I was surprised at how big it was, about 1.78 gigs total.

I've played about 4 1/2 hours already (23% in) and am having a good time so far. I like the new bike physics quite a bit. The bikes originally were almost a death trap to drive at high speeds, now they seem easier to manuver and you don't fall off from hitting the smallest things.

Gameplay wise it's awesome. The game isn't hand holding you though the missions like it seemed the first 1/3rd of GTAIV did. No filler crap and tutorial missions to get you familiar with the game. Even the very first mission after you get to the clubhouse is action packed. I've done 8 of the main missions so far and they've all been pretty varied and lots of fun. I haven't ran into any "date" style missions even a 1/4 way in and people haven't been annoying me at all on my cell phone. This is a HUGE plus over the original game.

They've added a few tweaks to the races (they are more road rash style with some combat) and the new weapons are cool. The auto pistol is a beast, grenade launcher is tons of fun and while I didn't like the sawed off shotgun much at first it works great for hitting people on other bikes. One blast and they come flying off.

I'm also enjoying the story. The brooding biker gang plotline is actually pretty engaging and some of the dialogue is hilarious. If you enjoyed the original game I think you'll appreciate the little tie-ins to the main story.

About the only complaint I have is rather minor. They changed the color of the enemy health bars and the fonts on the text. Even on my 42" 1080p TV it makes some stuff hard to read and make out. Granted I've only had the game for a day so I might get used to it but so far this is the only thing that has annoyed me.
