Forums - Nintendo - Let EA know your Dead Space dissapointment

I think people are just sick of getting the bait & switch with every franchise that comes to Wii. It's a parade of genre-busting spinoffs with little in common with the parent franchise besides the IP, and low budgets in common with each other.

Hey, you're getting Dead Space, a third person horror/shooter. Just kidding, it's a rail shooter.

Hey, you're getting a new Resident Evil. A third person survival/horror game? Nope, yours is a rail shooter.

Hey, you're getting a new Soul Calibur fighter! And by fighter, we mean a cheapass hack & slash.

How about a new Castlevania game? Platforming and powerups? No, yours will be a 3D fighting game!

I officially agree with everything famousringo says from this point onwards. This is my new bible.

Seriously though, I understand that Wii doesn't always lend itself to typical games, but this is a little absurd. I seem to remember a lot of "traditional" games working on the Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox ... now suddenly you can't have a good 3rd-person game on the Wii.

I know it probably all comes down to demographics and percieved userbase and all that, but still. I was holding out on this one because I wanted to play a 3rd person Dead Space where you could tilt the Wii Remote for horizontal and vertical shots. You know, like Dead Space on 360, except with Wii controls and lesser graphics.

Now I'll probably just put my saved pennies towards the 360 version anyway. Looks like it's back to thumbsticks for me!

EA is choosing to give Wii owners an awesome visual horror experience, at the expense of a free-roaming environment. They can hone the constrained rails environment to a fine edge, and it will look spectacular on the Wii -- probably very close to what the HD console Dead Space looked like on a 480p display.  Heck, maybe better.

If only owned a Wii, I might gladly take hot-looking-game-on-rails over a free-roamer that looked meh. The Wii only has like 24MB of texture memory, you know.

i had no idea it was gona be that...
now im prolly not gona buy it, to be honest. oh well

i love it so i am going to crap on your parade with my dancing cats

God, I'm sick of Nintendo fans believing they are entitled to every game. You bought a Wii, if you want games that are on other platforms you should buy them. You need to get over yourselves and accept your crappy ports or do something about it, stop moaning and sell your Wii.

it isn't a port they are complaining about. Get your facts straight...

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

I just found out about the gameplay details and saw the trailer like 5 minutes ago, only to come here and see this much rallying against the game already?

How sad.

wow, you guys don't complain this much when killzone 2 comes out, or Call of Duty 6, or FPS 9348284 comes out.

such whiners and complainers...

KZ 2 and CoD 6 actually appear to be good games while Dead Space (imo) was shit to begin with, perhaps that has something to do with it for some? You do realize than some folks earnestly don't like something without being either a fanboy or an idiotic sheep (like you suggest in sync with BengaBenga) or both.

Stop being so full of yourselves, lately, no one is entitled to any kind of opinion in here without being labelled some kind of driveling idiot. Now, of course, I didn't like Bioshcok, F.E.A.R or Crysis at all so perhaps my opinion on the matter doesn't count (since, clearly, I dare not to like highly reviewed games, I mean, I get that a lot in here)?

I made a thread stating that the game was anounced. It was then filled with 50 posts complaining it was a on-rails game. Then 5 more threads spawn up saying the game sucks based on 1 peice of information. It is an on-rails shooter.

I don't care if you like the game or not, but with no information at all this amount of complaining is just uncalled for. The game has potential, it looks good. It may not be your cup of tea, but that doesn't autimatically make the game suck so much that EA is now irrelavant.

Well that is, I'll agree, very silly. I try to hold off on passing judgement until I get to play or at least see the games myself in my living room or on my PC (gameplay vids can't always be trusted either though, some games look brillantly fun when you watch someone play and then fall short when you play yourself, like GT IV for me), especially with the amount of high profile games that have let me down this gen and the amount of underdogs that have surprised me positively (in the case of Dead Space, I hated the entire concept on PS360/PC so I strongly doubt that the Wii version, however it plays out, will yield anything in way of satisfaction for me).

The nagging and complaining on the boards here is a nuisance to be sure, but for me the problem lies in two things mainly; the trends and attitude of game reviewers, they really are quite predictable lately (almost every shooter with decent graphics and sound get good scores even if the gameplay and/or story is severely lacking, most casual games get shot down regardless of entertainment value etc) and the fact that complaining about something in here gets you branded with whatever label someone decides to award you. It seems many people are having problems differing between those who whine just to be assholes (like Wii/360 owners claiming every PS3 title is/will be shit, PS3/360 owners claiming every Wii title will be shit etc) and those who have honest gripes with a game or a game concept.

The one thing that I think is hilarious on the boards lately, amidst all the whining, is that most of our users claim that this is the "best gen ever". If such is the case, why are practically half the threads complaints about something or other? Personally, this has been the most boring gen for me as far as I can remember, I'm hoping it'll pick up soon though!

Well, whatever the genre turns out to be, I hope it's a good game. That's really all I care about.

Don't bash the man.
The majority response to the news was disappointing. He (like many others) are fedup of this kind of second grade treatment the Wii is getting so he decided to do something about it.
Can't give the man wrong.
How else can things change if we don't do anything about it?

At the same time we need to take things with a pinch of salt.
