Forums - General - Palin's Daughter Says Abstinence Not Realistic

Meh. I was abstinent 10 years - boy, it was rough, especially when the ladies didn't play far.

However, my honeymoon night, it was on. Now, I can't remember what it's like to have to wait.

I do wish I could have waited to start off with. Sex without love is so overrated.

its already awkward enough for elementary school teachers to teach kids about what goes where. I think teaching kids about how it all functions and the risks is good enough. I don't think teachers should be expected to teach their students about the Donkey Punch or whatever.

The MORALITY of it all shouldn't be the burden of the state; it is and has always been the responsibility of the parents.

You should be able to teach your kid, Kal-El, whatever you want about the morality of sex "and stuff", and I could teach my Kid, Kakarot, whatever I deem appropriate.

First of all, I don't even like Superman.  In fact, I hate him.  I'd never name my kid Kal-El.  And if I met some kids named Kal-El and Kakarot, I would assume Kakarot had the cooler parents.

I went to a Catholic school, so when they taught us about sex, they definitely taught us all about morality.  They actually taught us two methods: abstinence until marriage, and then after marriage, "the rhythm method."  It was hilarious.  It assumes that all females have the same 28-day perfect menstrual cycle, even though those things are as unique as fingerprints.

The idea that an unmarried man can live his whole life without ejaculating is quite possibly the lulziest concept ever, and I'd like to see a movie or read a comic book about it.  We were also taught that if a man had sex with his already-pregnant wife, with the full knowledge that he could not get her pregnant if she was already pregnant, and would thus be having sex for pleasure (huuuuge sin), it wouldn't count as a sin, because it would be practice until she was ready to conceive again.

hey man, i'm with you on that. Whenever the school system tries to push the morality thing, its an epic fail. Though you went to a catholic school, so I guess since the funding is different, they are allowed to teach you whatever they want ^_^

It would be good for kids to be taught stuff like being honest and playing fair; but again, the onus is on the parents to teach that stuff first; kids should know about being honest and fair before coming to school

Hmm, this "just practicing" loophole seems like it could be exploited.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

Teenagers have sex? When did this happen?

Seriously, this isn't news, nor should anyone really care about the daughter of an also-ran. I'm far more interested in whether Ireland is going to vote yes or no to the Lisbon treaty. I'd love to see them throw it in the EU's face a 2nd time. =) Effin EU.

shes such a disrespectfull bitch lol

“It was my choice to have the baby,” she said, in an interview that aired Monday night. “It doesn’t matter what my mom’s views are on it. It was my decision and I wish people would realize that too.”

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?

the only reason youre on TV is becuase you mom was running for vice peridency and ure are an iresponsible brat wanting attention....

Abstinence-only education is a mixed bag. It's hard to really preach that, given the sexualization (not a word?) of the Western/American culture.

Most of our movies and TV promote sex before marriage, and very little emphasis is placed on the dangers of sex before marriage. So why wouldn't our culture be inundated with the good side of sex, and not the bad side?

Abstinence is realistic when your not a whore. Of course, that doesn't mean you need to rule out sexual responsibility in all of it's forms, either.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

This is QFT. I can't understand why people just don't realize that.

Even hundreds of years ago people aren't as abstinent as we would like to believe. Society is not significantly more morally depraved than it was in the past. It has ALWAYS been morally depraved.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S.
