Honestly they should kick half of the Rare work force (I think they are over 300 guys), because they simply don't deliver. Bad reviews and very bad sales.

Rare needs to be told a lesson.

well they could get "id software" , "valve " for their fps series. both companies love m$ and they have a studio for their racing games. rts games, they still have ppl for those games. i am 100% confident that a ton of dev's would want too work with m$, why? simple they have the money and resources.

In 2002, Microsoft paid $375 million to buy Rare Ltd., developer of such Nintendo 64 hits as GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark, and Banjo-Kazooie. However, sales of Rare's subsequent releases have failed to recoup its then-record-setting purchase price. Despite solid reviews, Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo: Elements of Power, Viva Pinata, Viva Pinata: Party Animals, and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts generated just over $66 million combined domestically over three years, according to the NPD Group.

Rare, let me give you an advice: the best restructuration you may have is to come back to Nintendo.

Agreed, they have really just produced crap since going over to the 360.  I mean I can't think of a single good Rare game (and by good I mean up the the standard of Goldeneye, Donkey Kong 64, Perfect dark for N64, Conkers bad fur day ect) thats been made since the move to Microsoft.  I mean even the can't miss rehashes of N64 classics like Perfect Dark, Conker and Banjo Kazooe somehow manage to miss.  I mean turning Banjo into a crappy vehicle game?  Just releasing the same Conker game with no real improvements at all?

How the best game developer of the N64/Playstation generation turned into whatever the hell Rare has become now is quite the mystery.  I mean I understand why people try to turn lead into gold, but microsoft has managed the opposite with Rare, they turned gaming gold into lead.

Valve does indeed love Microsoft and Gabe their fearless leader is a shill for Microsoft if ever I've seen one (doesn't hurt he worked there 10 years or so before leaving).

ID though, they are far from MS fanboys.  They are in the Vanguard when it comes to non MS tech in games for one thing.  They are one of the major supporters of Open GL which is to Direct X what Linux is to Windows, a superior open standard that Microsoft loathes.  I don't think they've had a major release not put onto the mac since they started in the 90s, and they have openly said they are being forced to make an inferior two disk version of their most recent game because the 360 doesn't have the power or capacity to handle the PS3/PC version.  Hardly MS fan number one there.

MS doesn't really have anyone consistently on their side in the tech world (other then a few companies run by former MSers like Valve).  They're like an oppressive king, yes they can get most people to pay them respect, but it seems a lot of people would rather have a better more democratic system if given the chance, its just too hard to get out of the Microsoft monopoly now (though just about every major tech company is putting more and more resources into overthrowing that monopoly from IBM and their full support of linux and open office to Dell selling linux boxes to Google and Apple working on open webkit standards and Office alternatives to ID, Sony and Nintendo pushing Open GL for games).  When you look at Microsoft's corner there are very few people over there that don't have to be.

Explain to us, oh mighty Impulsivity, how OpenGL is a superior gaming API?

Rare is dead.
