Forums - Sony - IGN believes that Killzone 2 is quite choice

Of course the 720p/30fps is likely to set off some fanboys.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Change the feeling through lack of light? Yes because not enough next gen shooters are stupidly dull. Gears, resistance all have insanely faded colours. We don't need another.

Even though im not a Halo fan im looking forward to that game just because at least it looks different. There are actualy colours other than shades of brown.

I believe Doom 3 innovated in the "lack of light" department well enough that we don't need another game trying the same.

i dont think its lack of light for innovation, its using all the techniques already made and some tricks they have learned in order to make the atmosphere exactly as they want.

thats kinda like saying "well some game already made open spaces, so we dont need shadow of the colossus doing the same," when in reality its just sotc using the open spaces to be artistic and moody and make the game how it should be.

Look the whole point of the ps3 is its meant to be a powerhouse. This is meant to be "the game." The first one was a shocker so the gameplay has to be re-written so that its incredible. They have 130 people and 40 million dollars in this game, it will be a third generation game for the ps3. My plan was eventually to purchase a ps3 when its cheaper just to play those few, first party games that cant run on the 360. If they cant make this game 1080p at over 30fps then i wont bother. If its 720p at 30fps, the 360 could do it. The 360 could do 720p at 60fps. But i dont think 360 could do 1080p at 60fps, so thats where sony have to take this

that was a little bit stupid.  720p and an absolutely solid 30fps would be fine for most games (1080p 60fps is very much preferred though), but its just that sony will not let them release the game and have ms laugh at them for it.

The difference between Sony saying something "can" do a certain task and "will" do a certain task is very broad indeed.

I'm sure the PS3 can handle 4D, 120 frames a second, real time weapon change, etc., but that doesn't mean a developer will ever do any of those things.

Whoa, wait. 30FPS and 720p?? You have to be kidding me. That can't be the final resolution and framerate. Someone PLEASE tell me that's not the final resolution and framerate. Metroid Prime 3 runs at 60 FPS...

But thats the point. On a game like this the 360 could do 720p at 30fps. Sony are telling us time and time again that the ps3 can do things the 360 cant. But this is a third gen, MASSIVE budget, MASSIVELY resourced game. This is the moment when they absolutely MUST provide something that NOONE can reasonable say could run on the 360. But more than looking great, it must play FANTASTICALLY

That's unacceptable.  A Wii is pulling 480p and a rock solid 60 FPS and a 360 is pulling 720p and a rock solid 30 FPS (at least) on all their games.  The PS3 is much more powerful.  Put more time into this game, do whatever it takes, but don't release it at that level.  What's UT3's resolution and framerate?

Some of you act like 720p is a crime, although I admit that Sony and Guerilla (spelling?) could have done better. The game will still be graphically incredible, even without 1080p.

Oh, and frames per second are overrated.
