I'm hoping somehow Snake takes the cake, but i'm fine with Cloud/Sephi :D

I almost put Donkey Kong on my list, but I think that would also include the Donkey Kong Country games, the Donkey Kong Land games, Donkey Kong '94 for Game Boy (the best DK ever), and DK 64. They're all 2-D, 2.5D, and 3-D platformers. I'd say the only DK spin-offs are the music games, Diddy Kong Racing, Barrel Blast, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, and DK: King of Swing.
