Comparing 2008 to 2009 might misstate the situation.

Last year, Nintendo was much more supply constrained as it had airlifted shipments in for the Christmas rush. This year, it had consoles to sell in January.

Sony has a stable market share and is working toward making a profit. It's position is not enviable. But it does not appear to be in imminent danger -- unlike some other parts of the Sony empire.

This is true sorry I got the 80gb MGS bundled Ps3 so my Ps3 has all that plus BC....and I just realized I mad a very dumb comment lol...

How can you take out the HD from the Ps3 when we need it to play the games...since they have to install to your HD....that doesn count for all Ps3 games but for 95 percent of them...

 

Yeah that should really be an optional feature. But as you pointed out there is nothing Sony can do to "dumb down" the PS3 anymore short of removing Wifi, and thats a bit pointless.

 

They are just going to have to keep reducing costs, the PS3 won't be at mass market price until 2011 at the earliest.

Sure. We'd have to somehow get a mod to approve this. I'd have preferred something within our powers.

I really hate this argument.  Only the Arcade model is half the price of the PS3, the Pro model is 3/4 the price and the Elite is the same price.  When people bring up "well it's half the price, but it doesn't outsell the PS3 by twice as much!!@#$!!" they seem to forget this fact because not everyone buying a 360 is buying the Arcade model.  In Canada the Arcade is $200, 60GB Pro is $300, Elite 120GB is $400 vs. 80GB PS3 @ $400 and 160GB Uncharted Bundle at $520.  (The Wii sits around $275 heh)  I think the price staggering of the 360 reflects well in its sales figures compared to the PS3.  Obviously once people move up to the Pro or Elite pricing there is a greater chance that they'll go with the PS3, or at least weigh the pros and cons closer.  This is how bringing the 80GB PS3 price down to the 60GB Pro price will really help Sony.
