But Tales games are usually pretty mediocre.

Give me some good reasons why you think Tales is mediocre and I'll back off and pretend you didn't say anything.  Soriku is going to be pretty upset with you though since he is a huge fan of the series.

I made an entire thread to why I think Tales of Symphonia (GC) is overrated last year.  Google it.

Have you played Tales Of The Abyss? Its way better then Symphonia because it's story much more deep and complex and the characters are better.

aren't you a big RPG/tales fan, not playing phantasia is like a sin for those of us who like the tales franchise, the game is pure awesmoness and Dhaos is one of the best final bosses ever almost as awesome as mithos

my friend though i respect your opinion I must disagree Mithos sucked ass.Duke from Tales of Vesperia was way better

Because I believe I can make solid judgments :P Plus I've already watched the OVA...the story doesn't seem as good as the others.

And because most Tales fans wouldn't agree with that.

Basing the quality of a game's story on the anime based on the game is never a good idea.  If you watched Star Ocean EX before playing SO2, you would have assumed the same thing for that game.

hell no, in terms of in game dificulty mithos was really easy, very very easy, but his story was way better than every other tales villian, after all he was basicly god. story wise power he is way stronger than any other character as he beat the pulp out of the summon spirits ALONE, something that took the entire symphonia team to do and i <3 his character design.

have you seing symphonias OVA, its full of crap, play the game it has an amazing story and awesome gameplay, that was specially revolutionary for the snes, also the characters are very likeable and it follows the tradition of putting the main character in jail atleast once.

Just a small clue, Tales games don't have very good stories.  They're normally very flawed, full of cliches, card-board cut-out character personalities, random angst, and stupid localization mistakes.  Localization mistakes annoy me greatly though as they completely destroy the atmosphere.  Why does the guy who specializes in selling all manner of sharp, pointy killing instruments introduce himself with "Cats are cute" anyway?  Sorry but quality writing is very much lacking in the Tales games I've played.

It looks like this thread deviated from it's theme pretty quickly.

Either way, maybe Arc Rise Fantasia looks average, I dunno. Personally, I think it looks like a fine RPG. I rarely hype up RPGs much, and I rarely enjoy RPGs as much as I probably should, but I've got a very good feeling about ARF.
