Forums - Nintendo - CoD: WaW Wii is tracking better than Metroid Prime 3

I think it'll end up with fewer sales but I thought it was interesting to note that it is actually selling faster

wow didnt realize that, i think WaW will sell more

I came in here ready to dispense some intelligence on stupidity... in reality, I discovered something pretty cool.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

very sad indeed. MP3 is such a good game. Too bad Nintendo never advertise it better. It deserves better sales.

But then again I have nothing agains WaW good Wii game.

I don't think the problem for the Metroid Prime(s) sales lies in it's adverising. Anybody who's into gaming knows what Metroid Prime is, and that Prime 3 is out there. The problem is, that most people who want to play shooters, want to run and gun, not explore and try to solve puzzle after puzzle.

I love MP3, but I've seen what happens when my friends try to play it...

MP3 deserves so much more. Out of all Nintendo's franchises, Metroid seems to be the only one that hasn't benefited from Wii's popularity.

Metroid has always been a niche franchise. Hence it always suffers. Whereas COD is now more than mainstream.

Well, I don't know. I mean, MP3 came out to a much smaller Wii market. With MP1 and 2 coming out Wiimade we might see good sales for the old games and more sales for MP3.

Anyhow, good sales of CoD:WaW, it might pass manny a core game on it's way up and just like GH3, set a new standard for third party games on Wii, now for core games. Let's hope many more games follow, or at least more CoD games.

Well yer I agree in some respect. Perhaps I should of gone into a bit more detail. Considering the Wii has sold so much more than GC. You would think that the regular MP fans would of gotten MP3 and then with some advertising, perhaps some NEW console gamers would of picked it up.  Like I would of expected maybe 500K more units sold to new players. However they may of been put of by the fact that it is called 3, and they haven't played 1,2.

I think that the cheaper MP1 (hopefully 2 in the future) with Wii controls will help maybe rejuvinate sales of MP3 to a newer audience.

The thing is this bodes well for The Conduit.

1. It has a lot of hype just like Metroid Prime 3 did and is on a larger install base so its first week sales will be above 250k - probably between 300 - 400k and being exclusive will only help it more

2. It'll have a major advertising campaign unlike both these games which will give it more sales from launch

3. It's a mainstream game unlike Metroid FPS will always outsell FPA unless something changes in the future. It's also not a gimped version of a HD game, it's exclusive.

4. It'll have good word of mouth and hence legs just as CoD is seeing on Wii.

Some thing like this perhaps?

That's the best case scenario for The Conduit unless it has bundling etc IMO
