I bought it a while ago, but I haven't played it regularly -- I just whip it out now and then and obsess over it for a little while, then put it down again.

I was making a serious effort to get the OCDs for a while, but a couple of levels had me bashing my head in trying to squeeze just a couple more balls / seconds in, and I stopped being comprehensive about it; but now and then there'll be one where I think, "I can totally do that". On the skull-bridge level I got 29 (26 is OCD) and I just stood there for a minute feeling disgustingly proud of myself.

Between the clever puzzle aspect and the building aspect and the wonderful level design and the amazing art and humor and everything, I can't imagine someone being capable of liking the genre, and not liking the game

Hm, is the game really that good then? I was shocked when it got GOTY on IGN. That was awkward. :s I've never downloaded a WiiWare title but this one has me intrigued.

I don't know, every time I think a game is beyond reproach I find someone who hates it. Hell there are people that hate SotC, SMG, and Valkyria Chronicles and before I found them I assumed it was impossible to hate those. Oh well, to each his own.

I seriously doubt it.. World of Goo is an amazingly addictive game. It can be really frustrating at times.. but you have to keep playing it!

The Sign Painter is awesome.

For me, sometimes an awful sounding name is enough for me to dislike a book/film/game. World of Goo is one of those things that tick me off.

If they like the genres I find it hard to believe people would dislike those games (not played SotC yet, have it on backlog). Not to say it isn't true - it would just be a little mad.

Well, I can understand if people just don't like the kind of game that it is.  If you hate platformers, you won't like Mario.  But it really is that good.
