Forums - Sony - Since when was GOW 3 considered a system seller?

Although the J man loves the series , he never ever saw it as a system seller (mainly because it too short).

Was there an instance where a GOW game was a system seller, and if there isnt how can it be considered a system seller.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

The terms 'system seller' and 'AAA' have been used way to loosely on this forum. But technically, if 1 person buys a PS3 for GOW3 it's a system seller :P

For real though, I think only the Mario, Zelda, Halo, GTA, MGS and GT (and possibly RE) series are actual 'system sellers.'

Edit: In Canada EA's NHL series sell systems, and I'm sure Madden moves systems in the US. But they're both multiplatform games, so they are often forgotten.

It wasn't, both GoW 1 and 2 are considered some of the best games on the PS2. Well actually it might sell some systems, but it's mainly just a great game.

Theae are the same people that hyped little big planet too the moon as if it was the second comming of christ only to it outsold by wii music, fable 2, and just about every other big game. nevermind that god of war only sold about 2.5- 3.5 million on a 100 million+ userbase... being dellutional is part of being
of the hype.

I think people are calling ti a system seller because it is one of the few big games from last gen that hasnt had a hd release

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

how can GOW3 sell any system when this game was announced so long ago that probably every person that wanted to play god of war already have ps3.

let's face it ps360 won't have system sellers anymore except maybe final fantasy XIII games in japan since most core gamers that wanted any of those "system sellers"/"AAA games"/ "OMG GAM OF DA YAR!!1!" already have one or another hd twin.

The truth.

System seller is a term used for desparate fanboys trying to latch onto any game that shows promise (not specifically talking GoW here) and hopes that despite not many people not knowing about it outside the internet (not specifically talking about GoW here either), that it'll push consoles. Hence why more PS3 games get labelled system sellers than 360 games and why the Wii has no games labelled system sellers.

I don't think GoW 3 is a system seller, I think it'll be a great game though.

Because all of the 3 million people who played GoW read about games on the internet.

Seems like every single game that is released these days are system sellers, sure some might be but not that many actualy is.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

It is a good point that God of War is not a huge selling franchise.  Personally, I don't think it sells systems in the way that Final Fantasy sells systems.  Really, though, the PS3 hasn't had many system sellers so far but it has had a consistent bolstering of system sales.  God of War 3 will probably add to that.

Is the game due out in late 2010 or is it going to be pushed to 2011?
