Getting greedy swimming in the pool of cash M$ gave them is their downfall.
Most of the hardcore SE fans are on PS3.

God I hate that guy, worst new scrubs character in a long time. Glad Dr Cox fired his ass.
On topic: I'm not sure why people are still saying S-E needs to start making PS3 games. Considering the PS3's standing in Japan, I'm not sure putting the last remnant and infinite undiscovery (definitely the later, since Last Remnant could have and did ride the S-E name in Japan before people saw mediocrity) on the PS3 first would have done much for S-E, perhaps reduced the Loss, but I would still say it would have been a loss. On the other side, I'm sure most of the people are saying that because if S-E released a huge amount of games on the PS3 would have meant that it would've had a much better standing of the 3 consoles at this point in time.

He had an awesome but short run I loved that guy thought Sonny and the other grumpy girl intern are funnier. On Topic: There is no clear path for SE now. I am not going to be delusional and say they should put all their games on the PS3 because that would make absolutely no sense they just need to make better games period.

Now you lost all my respect that you had gained from the first post. 1st of all 50 million units shipped is not only good, it's unprecedent for any console not in the 1st place of the race. I wouldn't call that a bad thing. Just because it's not selling 100 million like the DS, doesn't mean is dead. 2nd: Yes the American and European market are bigger/going to get bigger than Japan, but it'll never be insignificant. Many games (like say... some of the ones that Square makes) only sell there, and some others sell more there than they do on the West. 3rd: The thing you said about Microsoft is completely irrelevant to the point I was trying to make. Why did you say it anyway? |
to be honest.. most of that post was word vomit..
i was being distracted by my friends while i posted that..
i could have used stronger evidence to make my point but i didnt really have the time
hello how are you.
If one wants to take what S-E has been up to as a SIGN of there being a problem, that is fine, and raises valid points. HOWEVER, if the whining that Microsoft is throwing money at them is the CAUSE of S-E's problems, is absurd. It is a fanboy elevating his opinion to a level of relevance that is warranted. Companies do NOT own you any loyalty, fanboy. Get over yourself. There is NO guarantee a third party will continue to make games for your console. Sega fans know this with Electronic Arts.
And with the PS3 third-place worldwide, why would one expect that the S-E would pander to them exclusively, or favor the PS3 exclusively in what it puts out? The PS3 isn't even first place in Japan. And if Japan is THAT important, then I guess FF13 only coming out on the PS3 there should matter, right?
Ok, want to say all this is a sign of S-E losing its way? That is possible. But to say it is to blame is absurd.
And this "games MUST go multiplatform ALL THE TIME, to rake in the coin" is absurd. Would IU be better if it were multiplatform? Would it suddenly make it a better game? I thought it was supposed to get mediocre reviews. So how does putting it on the PS3 going to matter? If the game is mediocre, does it then mean that the PS3 is so starved for games, that EVERY PS3 owner would end up buying it?
i really DO feel bad for them tho.
they barely take risks, and the one time they do (TWETY) it didnt do amazing.
it did pretty damn well, 600k+, but not even 1mil...

Well, if they bought a PS3 before confirming word on what console games would be on, that is close to being beyond stupid. It shows how inanely presumptive people would be. Why would a hardcore SE fan buy the most expensive game system on the market, if it doesn't have any SE games for it?
Can you answer why? Shouldn't we go back even further and say the real downfall for Square is their abandoning Nintendo for Sony? After all, wasn't Square just a Nintendo RPG maker? So, to make things right, Square should only release games on Nintendo systems, right?
Can someone answer me why ANY JRPG fan would buy a PS3 now? I said JRPG, not just an RPG. WRPG and SRPG titles are on the PS3.
^^^ Upscalse PS2 and PS1 games to HD of course. 60 gig FTW~

That article is retarded. The writer should take Sony metaphorical balls out of his mouth first. SE did not improve after going Sony console exclusive. It deteriorated (slowly, but it did). They made some good and original games like Musashi, Parasite Eve, Xenogears, Kingdom Hearts. Tthey made awful sequels to these games and gave up original ideas on the PS2 era. They fucked everything up with the godawful FF movie. That made SE the shitty company we all know. Sure Wada is a dumbass and Eidos sucks. The problem is that the author reasoning isn`t there. So buying Eidos is a big waste of money, but keeping PS3 exclusives is ok? It seems like he has a bigger problem with the other kids enjoying his once exclusive Sony brand RPGs than SE making stupid businnes decisions.

neat I didn't knoe that PS3 did PS1 games as well.
btw how can you tell wether it is BC or not? My nephew bought one a while back (about 2 years ago) and he brought it home to find it wasn't BC and was pissed. I don't knoe the model but at the time the price tag was like $600.
at any rate, I wouldn't go that far to say switching to SONY, because at the time that was a pretty good deal for Squaresoft. Bigger userbase and no restrictions on how many games they could produce was a big plus. Also one of their main intrests was to move away from Carts so they could have the cinematic sequencing and robust soundtracks which the N64 wouldn't have been able to do in comparrison.
