Entertainment and nothing else to do.

I like being drawn into an epic, action-packed story, and I love the competition of multiplayer gaming.

 It's becoming more and more like this, as games become more advanced, atmospheric and immersive. This is what I love.

In the past though it was something else. The Arcades shoot'em ups, card games, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Tetris and even modern (casual) games, Flash games and stuff - they don't usually take you to another world, they're just enjoyable in a different way.

But I can't put words on it, can someone help me? I was gonna say they, the simple games, are a "distraction", but that wasn't a very lovable description lol.

Because the character's annoying high-pitch voices are mezmorying. @_@

I sometimes compare a good game to a good movie. They keep you at the edge of your seat through all the twists and turns and in the end, they deposit you into the real world invigorated and pumped up for the next round. I love how deep, plot driven games can leave a lasting impression upon ya and stir the mind a bit.

Some games are different though. If you're playing a Mario/arcade game or party based game, it's just a good form of entertainment! Oh, and stress reliever.

Its really interesting to see why you all play games, i would never think about being immersed or doing something i can't do in real life while playing video games. My reasons are 10% fun, 20% grind fest to become better, and 70% boredom.

Its fun, and my main form of entertainment. I used to watch a ton of TV, but now I hardly watch that much TV at all. I use video games as my main source of entertainment.

Because it's something you can't do in real life and it's fun.

They are pure fun if you have the right game that you are interested in. Sometimes games piss me off but when I am clearing levels, mowing down opponents online in FPS, etc... it makes me feel really good inside.
