The Vita Chamber isn't an issue as far as I'm concerned and I don't think the patch would necessarily change things. Increasing the difficulty of the game changes several variables -- not just the difficulty or number of monsters but how fast your EVE gets sucked out of you. For those that complain about the Vita Chambers, they should just crank it up one level. They will be happy to have them to not play the same level over and over until they get past a "hard part". Believe it or not, Gears had very, very regular checkpoints which meant you re-spawned very close to where you died and I don't remember anyone making a big stink about that... 2K made it clear that Bioshock wasn't a multi-player game from the get go. I don't see how a reviewer could dock a game for not having something that it never intended to have. Clearly Edge didn't dock Space Giraffe for not having an immersive story. It's just an arcade game and they rated as so... Same for warhawk for that matter -- can't dock it for not having single player. To me, that's just idiotic as any reviewer can knock any game for not having something... What, you mean it doesn't have a screensaver when you pause it? Damn, that's a minus 2 right there! If it had multiplayer and it sucked, well, I would understand... Bioshock as a whole is a phenomenally well rounded game. Based on the merits of what is in the game and what was intended to be in the game in the first place, It's a high 9 game. Period.... @Kruze -- You misunderstood or I misled -- either way, I'm not knocking Space Giraffe because it is an XBLA game. I'm knocking it because it is not that great of a game. I've purchased about a dozen or more XBLA arcade games and played alomost all the demos and space giraffe is average, in my opinion, at best. There is no way I'd give SG an 8. MAYBE a 5 or 6. When enough SG reviews come in I suspect that will be the composite score -- a 5 to 6 overall and rightly so. These two games (based entirely on their own specific merits) don't belong in the same discussion when talking about great games. |
stop making excuses for the vita chambers, they are a massive flaw, just like death walking was in prey, that be like in RE 4 if you kill all the enemies in an area the Dr. Salvador lops your head off and you just reappear at the door and only doc sal is left, or when fighting "it" he chokes you out and your right back, check points and the vita chambers or other auto revival thing are 2 completely different things, one basically relieves frustration and the other eliminate challenge,
the mine cart scene in gears is hard, but if it was like bioshock, it wouldn't even work
bioshock has a cool art style and a fantastic presentation but it is far from a perfect game
I HAVE A DOUBLE DRAGON CAB IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!
NOW A PUNISHER CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So they gave Quake 4 and Prey the same score as Bioshock? Wow... And some people consider it one of the best in the World for game reviews? I'll stick with EGM's reviews.

so you will be sticking with biased garbage reviews? thats fine.

A 6 on edge is about a 7 elsewhere (7.2).

I'm certainly not making excuses. The developers made it the way they saw fit. Some like it, some don't. In my opinion it's not a big deal but I certainly wouldn't call it a "massive flaw". If it is that heinous, write 2K a letter and let them know you want a patch to have all enemies in the area "reset" their location and to full health so that your exit from the Vita Chamber isn't such a big deal.
Incidentally that means an 8 Review for Bioshock is more like a 9.0. (They actually statistcally rate 360 games BETTER then PS3 and Wii games.
Edge is just tough. Using there average for games however brings you to the right area.

If I'm understanding what is going on, at the very least the enemies should regen after a minute or two of not being hit. Dead enemies stay dead but those you took health off of should start regaining it back.
To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

EGM is actually statistically unbiased. Seriously gamerankings has the statistics up, check out your claims of bias instead of using anctedotal evidence that makes you look like a fool.

Sadly, they don't. You can fail to kill the Big Daddy, but take half of his health, revive in the Vita Chamber, then go take the second half.
