Forums - Sony - SONY: Don't Pay For XBL, Pay For Designer Stuff Instead

XBLA has about 100 "Hello World!" user-created content games, too! I bet there are at least 1 or 2 in that bunch that are worth purchasing.  And oh-so-many card games, tetris/puzzle knockoffs, sudoku, the list of awesome goes on and on -- the XBLA count goes up and up.  If only PSN didn't have such strict quality restrictions, then maybe it could keep up with the sheer awesome quantity of XBLA!

I often find myself clearing off tons of demos of card games and tetris clones (since they are all required to have one) to make room for new XBLA stuff when I see it splat onto the Marketplace.  Wading through the Marketplace interface to find the gems in the pile is a joy too.

XBLA, the best place for cheap stuff!

You are a really funny guy, and I've enjoyed immensely all of your posts in this thread. Keep it up!

zomg! Looks like I can do irony too!

Yeah....but you're not as funny as he is lol

Oh, I'm sure you'd find me equally hysterical if I was the one trolling Xbox Live.

I think when PSN has more valuable products and quality, then they can have a reasonable argument. You may spend 50 bucks for XBL, but its worth your money. They have games like Geometry Wars and they have an arcade full of classics games. I think if PSN adds a PSClassic Store as part of PSN, then their online service will be a little bit better.

What more do you want? They have demos, game videos, full retail games (Burnout, Wipeout, Warhawk, Siren, Tekken 5, etc.), arcade like games (Pain, flOwer, Super Stardust), PSOne Classics, and movies that you can buy or rent on the spot aka not have to pay a monthly service (Netflix) but rather buy/rent whenever you want to.

Not to mention to free online play for games

They could have......More?

Arcade Games:

  • X360: 189 games
  • PS3: Under 90

Originals/Classics:

  • X360: 27
  • PS3: 19

Demos:

  • X360: ~300 (132 online for queueing) + 189 XBLA Demos
  • PS3: ~60 as far as I know.

Movies:

  • X360: 820 (not including Netflix)
  • PS3: 438

Yeah, I can see where the free service is equivilent in content :-

Are shows added to that list under Movies?

Or is it just to many on either side to add in?

Why does sony think im a broke ass gamer who can't afford things that he wants and needs to budget?

Oh right...cause their system costs an arm and a leg.

You sir are so wrong. Charge and Play adds 20 dollars to each controller, Wifi is 100 dollars. 50 dollars a year for live. That right there passes the price point for a PS3. Sorry.

The reason why you pay for xbox live-An attempted Explanation

On PSN its the opposite - If a game wants to have multiplayer or chat the developer has to foot the bill and build there own system An example is COD4 - For COD4 Infinity ward has servers maintained and run solely for the purpose of the PS3 version of COD4. Whilst on 360 MS does it for them, This is why you see things like different friends lists for different games and different TOS for each title as its all not linked together.

Ahhhh...so this is why I can't play my Call of Duty 4 online on PSN. Almost 12 months from when it happened and a Sony firmware that breaks the online for certain routers still isn't fixed. Why? Probably because unlike Microsoft that integrates a system that allows developers to have a smooth ride throughout, Sony left Infinity Ward to fix a mess they caused. So if I pay Sony what I pay Microsoft yearly for Xbox Live, does anyone think they'll finally fix this router issue and I can play one of my favorite online games on this "free" multiplayer?

Well... actually you can get a WiFi Adapter for less then $40 now, that works with the 360. But thats for people that want WiFi for online gaming.  (I just switched my whole house over from WiFi to Hardline, for my On-Demand and online gaming, only thing WiFi in my home are my Laptops and Wii.

Xbox Live only cost $38.99 from this sites store (Amazon), also every couple months or so Newegg.com and Amazon.com offer Xbox Live even cheaper for $29.99

You have 13 months to find a deal on Xbox Live.... not hard at all.

And I do not mind paying for a great service like XBL, it cost $0.14 a day...

$0.11 a day when buying XBL for $39.99 and $0.08 a day for XBL $29.99..

Considering all the MMO's I spent $14.95 a month on, XBL is cheap...

O.. and Rechargeable batteries work just as good if not better then Plug and Play kits.

everyone has rechargeable batteries lying around...

Don't Pay For Xbox Live, buy me one KZ2 COPY PLEASE,...ha ha ha ha ha pathetic sony very very very pathetic....

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaa

i dont know wich side to take here. but i think sony should just stop talking bad about the competition and start selling their systems. and as a multifacetic worldwide company they should act like professionals and adult people wich is what they are and this go to ms too because i see both companys everytime insulting each other like if they are little kids while nintendo takes the big cake jejeje. instead of insulting each other why dont they team up together to fight against nintendo jejeje.

Even so, the cost of batteries(i dont have rechargeables) I need Wifi to connect to the internet from where my room is. And even after the XBL from the sites, its still going to cost more money in the entire life of the console then the PS3.

Also half the games I have played on live have been laggy as fuck. Only 1 PS3 game I have played online has been laggy. Why pay for laggy servers?

MMOs are differnt. They require far more people to keep the game running smoothly, and they are constanly patching the game and doing work.

No matter how you cut it, you pay more overalll for the 360 then you do the PS3. Also you cant just use a 3rd party hardrive, and microsoft overcharges for theirs.

Lets do some math here.

X360 arcade games = 50 dollars a year + the cost of the game

Ps3 = cost of the game

360 classics = 50 a year + cost of game

Ps3= cost of game.

You see where I am going with this right?
