Forums - Sony - Sony have a big decision to make !!

I have just been reading the results from NPD this morning and to me the "Playstation" brand is in decline. The PS3 is declineing in all areas, the PSP is not selling too bad but there is no furture money for Sony with software from the PSP, and the PS2 has had its day. So Sony have a big decision to make and that is "Do they pump millions of $ into the Brand or save Sony as a bussines.

To get the PS3 going again it will need a masive price cut around the $100 - $150 mark as Microsoft will drop the 360 by $50 as a reaction. Also they need to start attracting 3rd parties to make exclusive games and this will cost alot of money as Microsoft will be trying to buy them as well.

As for the PSP they need to make a online option so people have to buy the games and not copy or mod there PSP, standalone games for the PSP are a waste of time as we see every week, they need to make games that only play online and if its a modded PSP ban it like microsoft do on live.

The PS2 is dead but Sony should do a deal where they can part exchange the PS2 for a PS3 for very little, and try and make the money back on the games they would sell in the furture.

I feel that they will do non of the above and that the PS3 is going to be in trouble as I don't think there is many nails left untill the cofin is closed. Lets hope they are listening.....

Huh? Where did you get that from?

Pffff a $50 price cut and the PS3 is back in the game better then ever

According to Sony the PSP sold over 200 million in software thats 4 games per PSP, very good

and a $100 PS2 will be selling quite nicely, but for now leave the PS2 alone it's making Sony money

And NPD is just America the Sony brand is doing not to bad everywhere else (Japans looking good so far)

ps3 is not doing bad for it's price BUT to b honest playststion3 is doing terrible for beign a ps brand
Sony needs to come back strong
Like in past generations

i always wonder if these "save sony" threads are made by people who own a ps3 and can't stand that it's in last or people who want a price cut so they can buy a ps3.

everyone agrees with you that a price cut would boost sales.

i have a psp but i don't play online, so maybe i'm going to be way off base, but i don't think sony would be able to "ban" people because they don't host the online games for the psp. i think it's a completely different structure than xbox 360's live (and other than the nxe bans, i haven't heard of anyone being cut from live for being modded).

Just to clarify I have a PS3 and I am NOT here to Save Sony, I don't really care what happens to Sony I am just pointing out Sony has a big desision to make. If Sony fail and leave the gameing area there will always be some one to take over and that applies to Microsoft.

With regard to the PSP I was saying that games like Gears, Halo, Battlefield etc you can't play the game online without the really game

dont we have a thread for the sony is doomed stuff? (a 250 dollar ps3 would bankrupt sony because it would sell a shit load of consoles at a loss.)
