Why beat up on Pachter for something that a lot of people got wrong including other analysts? Everything seemed to point to the PS3 doing better (price drop and a massive numbers of RROD stories showing up everywhere), it's not like he was making a ridiculous prediction.

the wii outselling ds is bigger news in my opinion. seems the wii has a great production increase 30.000 a week more, i gues vgchartz is way off this month. (maybe npd is)

 People like to poke fun at Pachter because, well, he's just about always wrong except for when he makes the really obvious choices which even those didn't work out so well for him this time.

 No...no, not really. The Wal-Mart numbers are carefully estimated, looking at the trends the other retailers present. This is a system that has worked very well for over ten years, so don't; go trying to twist this saying "IT'S A WILD GUESS!"

 Just like VGCharts, theres a certain margin for error, but unlike VGCharts, it has something along the lines of a 95% accuracy. Meaning there is a 5% margin of error.

The gap between 360 and PS3 is far to large for PS3 to be ahead, even in a best case scenario.

 Don't even bother trying to twist it Hus. PS3 lost  to the 360 in July, and with a 360 price cut in August, it'll loose this month too. I don't think I even need to talk about September and October....

john was off by what 3 weeks? i'd say that was pretty good for a prediction that was made 8 or so months ago

People beat up on Pachter because he is a high profile professional analyst and he has been wrong about pretty much EVERYTHING so far this gen.

haha, yeah. I like Pachter, i saw him on a few gametrailers programs and he seems like a fairly charismatic guy, he just seems to get it wrong really often given he is a highly-paid (presumably) analyst.
