Forums - Sales - Someone made a serious mistake with the Jan NPD top ten

Why would Nintendo be mistaken? As I see it, 5 games they published are on that list. GH isn't their game, so they don't count it. And if the list were looked at in terms of combined sales, who is to say that GeoW doesn't make the top ten? As far as I can see, there aren't any mistakes here, just some creative interpretations on the parts of MS and a few VGChartz users.

Rule #1 of PR. Always use the data that makes you look the best.

If Nintendo had 6 games in the top ten, they'd say they had 6. You don't have 6 and then say you five.

The top ten list we have doesn't match up with the MS/Nintendo press releases, and that's very odd.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

I agree with blizzid.... I think the numbers some releases have been given have had the different GH SKUs combined.

MS and Nintendo both have press releases making reference to the NPD top ten that doesn't match the top ten NPD released. That's very odd and should be investigated.

I guess the top 20 list explains it if you combine SKUs accross platforms.

I'd wager one list is by units sold and one list is by revenue.

If New Super Mario Brothers sells 135k at $35, then Gears 2 could have sold 90k at $60 or whatever

You should investigate! Find out which list MS and Nintendo were referencing in their press release.

So

5 Xbox360 in the top10

5 Nintendo in the top10

1 PS3 in the top30

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Why is it a serious mistake, will it cause a mass extinction of the baby seals, or something?
