Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Responds to NPD Sales

It is 4 titles in the top 10, not 5...

@ squlliam - keeping up YoY increases until early September should be easy for the 360. Keeping it up from the one year anniversary of the price cut seems extremely unlikely

I think Microsoft is using the top 10 by revenues. That could explain why they say there are five titles in the top 10.... and not four as NPD reported.

Not today, I have X-Blades.

Maybe they're not including that pack in game the Wii has?

Oddly, both Nintendo and MS commented on a different top ten list then what NPD released.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

Sales of third-party games on Xbox 360 hit $139 million in January
(January NPD data), with Xbox 360 generating more life-to-date sales at
retail for third-party publishers than competing consoles. With 132
Xbox 360 titles rated 80 or higher on Metacritic, compared to 90 for PS3
and 42 for Wii (Metacritic data), it's no wonder that Xbox 360 owners
lead the industry in game purchases, having bought an average of 8.1
games each.

And I thought they could make one press release, just ONE, without mentioning the PS3...sigh.

They have a point, though.
