Well look at the number of Handhelds and SOftware on Handhelds sold you'll probably change your mind.

Wii needs software in Japan to move more consoles, at the moment it is pretty dull but Wii Sports Resort, and MH III are coming, and MH III Will sell well, there is nothing suggesting otherwise.

Japan seems to be getting out of the "one console" market that used to really be the case. This generation, things are evening out depending on the lineup of games.

As a jRPG fan, I guess I will just have to get used to portables.

But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. It is strange that the 360 maintains decent hardware sales, but has almost no software sales to go with it. The recent big JRPGs were all extremely front-loaded; if people were continuing to buy 360s for those games, shouldn't they have stronger legs? Is there a strong aftermarket, and people are buying those JRPGs used?

For SO4 release week, I'm curious if the Wii can end up third in Japan - behind the 360 and PS3. Things would be back to normal soon enough, but it would still be a crazy week if it happened.

PS3 almost caught the Wii.
Come on, Sony!

How was PS3 so close to Wii? Was there a big release?

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

This.  The second hand market is really huge.  Tales of Vesperia copies are probably continuously changing owners.  If there are scheduled releases later, then people keep the console.  If MS wants to keep the hardware sales up, there will need to be some announcements pretty quickly after SO4 releases.

Sony catching up, Nintendo still doing good but watch out, Microsoft doing pretty well.
