 No, the original crash games were much more popular than Sonic and at least as popular as mario during the ps1 era. All 4 original games sold like 25-30 million combined. Whats the total sales of Sonic games on Sega Genesis for God's sake? For how much did Mario 64 sell compared to any of the Crash games?

I think the Crash games sold 5-7 mil each, a bit more than Sonic on the Genesis (4-6m), though keep in mind that was in a later generation with a larger user base.

Mario 64 sold 11m. SM 2 & 3 over 10m each.

Crash Bandicoot went downhill after CTR, and even then CTR wasn't as good as Warped. Crash is one of those characters that seemed unable to make the switch between the 5th and 6th generation consoles. At the time of the PS1 it could be essentially classified as a 2.5D game, but with the more powerful consoles people wanted full 3D worlds to roam and thus Crash Bandicoot seemed to die out. Definitely not helped by the fact ND sold it though!

Damnit im so blind sorry for thoes who quoted me my keys on my notebook here are damaged (some of them are loose and lost). what i was trying to say is thatsonic has lot some of his popularity ever since sega was in a rut but now since hes in brawl and colaborated with mario hes regaining his popularity. Unlike crash or spyro,  they'er pretty much forgotten cause of the way they changed.
