Forums - Nintendo - House of the Dead: OK Impressions

Hey All- I picked up Overkill and Deadly Creatures this afternoon and am through the first chapter of House of the Dead- Here are some impressions.

Graphics- Nice graphics, good use of lighting, the kills are pretty juicy and explosive. Texture work is good, not amazing. Models are quite nice. The art sytle is top knotch, this game has just great production values.   8.4

Sound is good, weapons sound solid and explosive. Soundtrack is fitting and high quality. 8.5

Gameplay- Frantic, zombies are quiter agressive and the camera perspective is fast moving. A real challange to avoid being hit at times. Unlimited continues is a nice feature to make the game more accessable.  This is a very good light gun game. 9.0

I did find one minor irratation, while the camera is changing perspective there is a split-second pause which doesn't effect gameplay but can at times take you out of the game. Luckly the framerate seems solid.

So far I'm not far enough to report on anything but the first level, but so far I am quite impressed. Now its time to give Deadly Creatures a shot!

Cool I gotta get it soon

Reading the title, I went into this thread thinking "Well, Avery thought the game was O.K. at best. Kind of a bummer, I hope he found some enjoyment out of it."

Glad to know that OK stood for Overkill!

Happy to see that you're enjoying it, I'm in the process of securing the money for the goodness that Overkill will offer. Happy gaming.

Nice impressions! I was going to try and pick up HOTD, and DC this friday. At first I was going to get Tenchu, but I'm on the fence....

Off topic, anyone hear anything about Bikini Slayers? Just curious...

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

Lol, yeah I today I have been racing around, scatter brained. So far though I'm really digging this game, hospital level is great as well. This game is a nice step up in every way from the previous 2 on Wii. Oh course it should be due to the higher cost.

I played Chapter 1 & 2 of HotD Overkill today and agree with your impression.
I have the same problem when the camera is changing perspective fast. The game then sometimes stops by a split second.

I want to add after finishing Chapter 4, that the variety in this game is great. The train level is astonishing looking for a Wii game, the short pauses however remain annoying since some follow things like headshots. Again it doesn't interfere with the shooting, but it is noticeable.

Good news... can't wait to buy that game

I'm thinking I should get this. If you had to estimate how much time you're going to invest in the title, in all, what would it be?
