Half the people in here defending Microsoft's pride will most likely not even buy GTAIV DLC.
I'm looking forward to KZ2 more but I will def. be buying GTADLC too.

I think this may be part of the confusion. Take Two removes a 25 million dollar liability from their books when they deliver each episode to MS. They don't need to wait to see what the sell through is. In fact, there is no indication that Take Two will participate in the revenue at all. The repayment is the delivery of the software, there is no cash repayment.

You mean Take 2 won't see any revenue from the DLC?
In such a case, MS didn't pay for exclusivity. They funded development and basically had T2 play second-party, developing the two DLC packs while MS pays for development and reaps the profits.

Really? You plan on playing KZ2 for hundreds of hours? Ugh. Good luck with that. |
Well, Hundreds may be pushing it, but a good FPS is great for burning up tons of time! Have a friend over and play Co-Op, or have few friends over, and play split screen matches. Good times.

Does Sony release PSN activity statistics like MS does (or used to) with XBL?
I assume Killzone 2 will sell near 850,000 copies and DLC will sell near 2,000,000 downloads. If you look at how much Sony will make per copy and subtract that from the costs of development would that be greater than the $10,000,000 dollar loss MSFT will most likey get? (with those sales assumptions)

I think that is possible.
Edit: It is also possible that the 50 million was an upfront payment and MS will need to split the revenues. If it is just a exclusivity purchase then I would say Sony spent it better.
Thanks for the input, Jeff.
One neat thing I saw in regards to the GTAIV DLC is that they're actually making DLC cards that you will be able to buy in-store. I think this could add some sales for people with their head in the sand about the new DLC coming out and make them take notice, or perk people's interest for those who hadn't picked the game up yet if they see it for $20 and can grab a discounted new or used game for say $40.
MSFT is pushing the DLC without losing much money (free Xbox live for 5 days) but Sony is spending millions in advertising. MSFT can just advertise on Xbox live and they will be fine.

In other words, we don't know jack about the deal. Speculation would then be unsound, wouldn't it?
