Forums - Gaming Discussion - Wait...360 does have good games coming out.

So I've been hearing alot of people talking about how the PS3 has tons of exsclusive games coming out and how the 360 looks very weak in comparison.  Then I started thinking and realized something.  In Q1 the big Sony exsclusive is the amazing K2.  While 360 has Star Ocean:  The Last Hope, Halo Wars, and Race Pro all coming out.  Also Microsoft is infamous for waiting to announce games until a couple months prior to release.  Sony has a great offering this year but remember Microsoft isn't going down without a fight.

Thoughts?

Nope, this is a myth.

Anyway, MS do have an OK lineup this year. I'm willing to bet Splinter Cell and Alan Wake will get Q4 release dates and Forza 3 & Killer Instinct 3 will be revealed soon.

Really what about Gears 2?  One of their biggest games ever?  Also a Microsoft rep came out and said they would be announcing to more exsclusive games for 09 sometime soon.

"Good" - Yes
"AAA" - Not that have been announced

The example you choosed is exactly whats happening. The PS3 is getting one "AAA" game vs. three "Good" games.

PS3 fanboys will say having one AAA game is better then having three good game. 360 fanboys will say the opposite.

Announced in March 2008, released in Nov 2008. That's 8 months. Sony and Nintendo both reveal certain games close to their release dates as well, I'm not sure why so many people give Microsoft credit for it. And both Sony and Nintendo both have unannounced games for 2009 also. But yeah, this thread is about Microsoft so I'm expecting KI 3 & Forza 3 for 2009. And hopefully Crackdown 2 although I'm not too optimistic about that one.

exactly my point announced and released within the same year.  I'm sure there will be some like that this year.  In fact i remember all last year people were talking about how dry 360's games looked early in the year but they came back.  My point isn't that the 360 library is necessarily superior I'm simply stating that people keep talking about how weak the 360's lineup is when in all actuallity its pretty robust.

Ah OK, gotcha. Well, another Rare game is guaranteed for 2009, they seem to release a game every year like Insomniac. I think some people are saying it's weak because Halo ODST is currently the only major title for the holiday season, now that ME2 won't be out until next year. That'll change in due time, of course.

Sony did the same thing:  Resistance 2 and R&C were announced the same year they were released.

and about the lineup:  sony has mentioned more titles than MS.  MS has some announcements forthcoming they say, so will Sony.

All in all, it's as gebx says.

One of the big critism Sony is receiving is announcing games too early, MS is just trying to be different and hold their cards closer to their chest. They've mentioned it a couple times - the 360 has a couple cards that no one knows about...

And maybe MS is learning from Apple.. it makes sense not to announce games years in advance, hype can kill a game just as well as make it a blockbuster!

So in terms of not just good but possible AAA games for the 360 potentially this year what are the options?

Alan Wake, Splinter Cell (could be terrible or could be great), Halo 3:ODST. Any other ideas on what could be announced?
