Statistically its almost impossible unless there is a radical shift in current trends.
Wii sells roughly 1m per month. Assuming current sales data is correct, that would give the Wii a roughly 700k console lead by the time H3 launches. The 360 would need to triple its monthly sales through Oct just to keep pace with the Wii, and do twice as good as that to tie it- and that's assuming no Wii boost from Metroid or increased production.

Imma vote no, but if Wii doesn't have extra supply for the holidays, 360 will pass the Wii again in december. Very unlikely. Nintendo ships about 1M Wiis a month and continues to sell everything they make. (This number is supposed to be increasing slowly throughout the year, but rumors persist that Nintendo may not be able to improve supplies until next year.) That would give Nintendo at least 15M Wiis out there at the end of this year, but I expect the totals to be closer to 17M with some improvements in supplies.

MS has not been making 1M 360s per month this year (though they're probably ramping up production on the new 'Falcon' units now.) In fact, sales to retailers have been stagnant for the first six months of 2007 and totaled about 1M due the channel stuffing at the end of last year. While MS probably has a good number of units in stock and will be shipping a lot more for the Halo and Holiday rush, I doubt they're going to reach sales of 1M consoles worldwide in Aug, Sept, or October. Assuming decent sales, they should be able to sell about a million in November and up to 2M in December. While that could give the 360 the lead in worldwide sales in December, it will not make up for the lower sales in remainder of August, all of September and October, and the even sales in November. I expect the 360 to be at about 15M come the end of this year. i was going to debate that too, Wii should easily manage 15.5million by years end, even if they can't up production. i reckon 360 will at best be 15 mil, but probably be 14.5-14.75 i doubt ninty will not have more christmas units though, why would they keep upping shipment forcasts.

I even go a step further and say that, if the Wii were freely available next week, Metroid Prime 3 would move more Hardware than Halo 3 will. My reason for this thinking is that Metroid is the first game of its kind on the Wii and the Wii is in a price range where one game can be the reason for the purchase, while a good part of the Halo-people already own the 360 and one game can not be the reason for a purchase that expensive. (Of course, there are a lot of good games for the 360 and maybe Halo is like the final straw for a lot of people, but then again, a lot of core gamers may are interested in the Wii but were waiting for a AAA game to get one).

No... the extra shipments for Prime 3 will give nintendo more sales and it will gain a significant enough lead to just stay ahead of the 360, but only just...

I have a question, didn't Gears of War, Bioshock & Lost Planet and a few other big FPS games already draw in most of the Halo crowd?

As far as Metroids boost(it was mention in this post so I'm gonna comment) I think it'll see a big first week. nothing massive, the first one actually sold well and people are pretty excited for the third. I think it'll do well 2 weeks lull for a week or two till the general public hears about the controls, you might see some of the FPS crowd buy this in addition to Halo while you get the standard metroid crowd....

I'd say the 360 outsells the Wii in N. America for one week. The only other place in the world in which it matters is the UK. The effect of Halo 2 on hardware sales of the Xbox barely lasted for three weeks. There's also the fact that the Xbox was $150 when Halo 2 released whereas the 360 will be atleast $329(core + 512mb memory card). Also, considering that the 360 appeals to a very core demographic, I wouldn't be surprised if a great deal of people who will pick up Halo already bought it last year for Gears Of War.

With strong sells in the UK and US maybe, but they won't get help in Japan.
